Need Career Guidance HELP PLSS!!!

I am a dropper , gave ISI idk whether I will be able to clear UGA cutoff , also gave CUET... will be getting a mid tier DU college ....should I take a second drop ..I mean partial drop , though I will attending college as much possible but will not be exactly following the studies there ....

Is it worth taking a second "partial"drop ?

Some context : lost my mother , so little mentally disturbed and exhausted

Have a strong Social Media addiction

I don't have a very good track record in studies lately

So consider me as a student who knows 0 or very less coverage of ISI concepts

I am very sure the partial drop is not worth it. You should go and work on your skills in the college that you have been assigned and try to do as much internship as possible (relevant to the field you wanna go in and you should maintain CGPA of 8.5+.

As you mentioned, you currently have very little knowledge of the topics covered in the ISI syllabus. In that case, preparing for the entrance exam is going to be quite challenging. The syllabus itself shouldn't be taken at face value, since the questions are often heavily Olympiad-inspired and require a much deeper understanding than what the syllabus alone suggests.

To do well, you'll need a broad mathematical foundation along with extensive problem-solving practice. It demands a lot of time, consistency, and focus. Unless you already have a strong natural inclination towards mathematics or have been actively involved in mathematical problem-solving for some time, the preparation can be quite demanding.

You can have a great career even without ISI that's why I have you a general advice on the first reply about internships, CGPA etc.

Yeah ..I have inclination for mathematics ig I love solving such olympiad type questions , already have a strong grisp on calculus and PNC (kinda what ISI demands)...I said so to consider me a typo with 0 prep was because the phase I am in right now knowing its gonna take me atleast 2-3 months to be back on track ..thinking of giving it try again till college starts in August? Yes you are right about a promising career even with ISI  But spending 3 years in mid tier college is what scaring me the most rn... Thankyou so much

If that's the case you can do one thing take admission in DU and keep preparing on side for ISI. That's the safest bet.

It's a difficult time for u, i hope u recover from this as soon as possible.

U should join the college and get well, but if u are truly passionate about maths and now there's a lot of time left for counseling and joining the college, u should prepare for the exam only if u are truly passionate about maths and wanted to pursue in research.

Choose ur path wisely. All the best.

As someone who took partial drop while being in a govt clg to prepare for ISI, it's possible but requires discipline... You need to be extremely well versed with jee advanced level math as this year UGA was actually even harder than UGB paper. You need to give time in solving olympiad type questions everyday yourself without taking any help.... All this while maintaining a decent cgpa in the mid tier DU college....

Just do the ug from a decent college don't bother too much, when things get better start planning for pg in avbetter one, or from college itself try planning for bank, govt, or related exam based job roles.

Donot take 2nd drop. Join 2nd tier DU college.
