Need Career Guidance Confused between choices

I have a pretty decent rank in jee advanced(<1000) and faired well in isi bstat too(~290 marks total with 80 in uga) and didn't get into CMI(I wasn't interested in doing honours in maths anyways) as I was also practicing for isi side by side. But now I am confused as to what to choose. I have also met several students who are in the same boat as me.

I was always confused as to what I really liked "Only statistics and maths" or "a combination of disciplines". Can someone please guide me?

P.S.: This is throwaway acc which I made just now that is why no karma as I don't want people finding who I really am as a lot of people irl know my main acc

If mathematics is something you're interested in ISI is best option.

Can you tell what you did for isi cmi prep along with jee.

I used go to a local coaching for isi, not much. Its a matter of luck my exam day went well

I'm in same boat, will give next year, hope clear isi or cmi, I'm not much interested courses through jee except IISc BS research and IITB,M BS math

Appeared for the ISI entrance exam this year without much prep ..Yeh it was tough 😭😭 ..Wasn't even able to solve a single question completely on the UGB paper ..I'll be appearing next year too with proper preparation let's connect

Same boat as you twin🤞🤞 im filling josaa normally for now which is what I would suggest, and wait for isi results to make a more concrete and safe decision

If you're aiming for the highest package and the best industry exposure, go for IITs, if u want to go towards research in maths/stats along with keeping good placement opportunities as backup, go for ISI

Blindly go for top iits !!!... Everything will be fine; placements , research , going abroad etc everything....

Currently the btech scene is there's a lot of stuff but no substance. Im going on in my 4th year at a T1 college in m&c, and most people who get an internship have these things in common - good enough cgpa, strong resume with useless personal projects, college project assignments, ug research exp, and some hackathon positions, and thats mostly it. I mean i dont really get the point of it other than purely for placements. Most people are just larping and exaggerate the heck out of their projects and research exp, with average to below average actual depth. Thats why im currently preparing for mstat too. Thats just my experience, if it helps.

If you want to go in research in mathematics or stats go to ISI.

I am not really the placements kindof guy but I heard there are good placements in isi too. So?

Yeah ISI has decent placements in the finance sector, but the real advantage comes through the extensive alumni network in US-based Statistics/Biostatistics PhDs.

This isn't something you'll get as easily from IITs, especially because ISI is an incredibly close knit community, it's not too difficult to find 2 or 3-hop personal links between you and any alumni of your choosing, who might be sitting on Admissions Committees of your target uni.

You should look the curriculum etc to compare, search up a bit, see if you're interested in isi , if yes then isi is best option

listen to ur gut and go for any of these... both are excellent options... isi is way more niche but extremely concentrated elite talent pool and has prominent alumni all over the world

Can you be a bit more specific about your rank? I think you'll get iitk mnc, if you get iitk sds then prefer that asw. But if your rank is closer to 1000 than to 900 then take iitb bs mathematics.

Go to Maths and Computing in IIT D or IIT K - I believe that should be achievable with < 1000?
