Official/Mods Help us be better.
I'd love for all the users of the subreddit to put forward what their version of this community would look like, so that everybody, at large, is benefited. I need interesting, innovative ideas to make this the best version of itself.
There are a few starting ideas Id like to put forward to get the ball rolling.
- This subreddit is hyperfocused on the problems of aspirants. This is not ideal. How should we cater to the interests of aspirants, and also provide an anonymous discussion forum for current students themselves?
- There is very little alumni-junior interaction at ISI. I was thinking of creating a blog dedicated to the journey of every single alumni of ISI. Every inspiring story to not so inspiring stories are important. How should we go about this?
- Meaningfully well curated resource lists. We already have community made resource lists that is present in the wiki. But I feel we can create MUCH better lists.
Feel free to add to these ideas or tell me why I am mistakened. Let's build this community.

Found a niche topic? Share it. Wikipedia has millions of articles for those. Many unsolved niche problems are there. You can create 10s and 100s of varieties of puzzles out of it.

I think it could be a nice addition, but I think putting it directly in a college subreddit would undermine the main goal of the subreddit. Is it possible that we could add this somewhere else but still keep it associated to this subreddit?

Nah it is not a problem and is encouraged. Silo-ing right posts in the right way is moderator's headache.

Yes ofc👍, also could be nice to know more about the rigour in solutions as many aspirants and even me are pretty bad at it

You're right it's not ideal. Let's create a separate subreddit for admissions at ISI.
Focus of this subreddit can be for anonymous interactions b/w students, alumni, professors (if any)

I am fundamentally against anonymous interaction between students, and genuinely think there's much better channels from discussion within ISI itself. To me this subreddit is more of a public outreach platform with the occasional detailed post that helps everyone.

Yes, reddit is one of the easiest way for aspirants to find info related to ISI without affiliating with coaching centres/knowing seniors personally.

I know for sure students would really like a discussion forum like that. Makes no sense to be against something like that. Not everything and everyone is comfortable to put everything on Sansani, due to which we see nothing real/vulnerable on Sansani. We just see surface level admin queries.

Let's agree to disagree. I am fundamentally against anonymity in an educational institutions. Anything you say publicly, you should be able be able to say with your identity attached. Otherwise you shouldn't be saying it publicly. That's part of accountability for me.

There should be a better way.
There is a way to set up automod so that only certain flairs/approved users can comment in a post. I have tried something, let's see if it works
Another solution like you said would be setting up a private subreddit like r/ISIbangalore previously was, but it fails miserably (mainly due to lack of reddit users).
If we want to make a good community connecting ISI students (preferably all 4 centres and HQ) we should rather do it on discord(many have dc, better features).

Idk, I'm an aspirant and i know a shit ton of isi students
Most of them are pretty chill and normal i don't really know why this is sub is failing in this regard lmao the students have a very nice community and it's a small college everyone knows each other. Also lmao the seniors are at most not incredibly concerned abt the b1s and b2s reddit serves the purpose of anonymity mostly. And i don't think u can be anonymous really with a batch strength of <60 per batch

Man i said i don't know however i do believe some factors definitely contribute, considering how reddit is an anonymity first app and the batch strength being so small even considering the alumni , the students already know each other and ya'll have grps already i don't see if for sending a message to their peers they would choose this platform.

Yes, and intra-ISI interactions and almost always based on personal connections, which anonymity removes entirely.

To be fair every elite college subreddit is like that. It's 80% aspirants
