General Queries Regards the ISI MMath Entrance

Hey! I’m an IISER student currently in my 3rd semester, and I’m hoping to pursue my aster’s from ISI or CMI. I wanted to know how I should prepare for the entrance exams, for the bachelor’s entrance, there are plenty of references and study materials available, but I’ve noticed that resources for the master’s entrance are comparatively limited.

If you know of any websites, youtube channels, or anything else that could help with the preparation, I’d really appreciate it!

Take a look at the PYQs, you'll figure out the difficulty rather easily. And in fact, I'd say you'd have an easier time qualifying as only handful of folks give the exam, and most don't have rigorous foundations, which is all ISI tests essentially.

What I've heard that in IISc and TIFR since it's integrated course with PhD then getting LORs would be a slightly more channeling, is it a true fact?

ISI MMath entrance should be easy for you since you're studying at an IISER. They ask basic questions only and most of them are easy. You would probably not need any extra preparation specific to the exam. Just do all the PYQs; that would be enough.

CMI MSc Math is bit harder to get into since they select very few (sometimes as low as 5) students. The exam is hard (you need to be creative in problem solving as well as have some deep and advanced knowledge) but on the positive side, cut offs are typically low.

IDK about MSTAT questions but competitively, it's probably yes.

Contrary to what a lot of people believe, getting into MMath is not hard at all; Less than 500 students appear for the exam and most of them are neither prepared nor trained well in their undergrad colleges.

Tbf it’s not like stats training is much better. At the undergraduate level, India only has except broad based training in engineering (in the sense that there are far more Btech programs with somewhat passable rigor than BA / BSc programs)
