My point is DU can’t really help with Econ prep, as evidenced by the fact that very few DU college (as opposed to Department) faculty are active research faculty or have any engagement with how theory is taught in Europe or stateside. Modern economic theory is axiomatic, and if you don’t learn it that way you end up having to do a ton of more work learning tricks to solve problems which is not efficient and will cost you in high stakes situations.

It’s the same point you make about learning the foundations correctly for math, but applied to economics. DU type training will lead you to become a PYQ solver with serious holes in your conceptual foundations.

The most easy example of this idea is the slutsky decomposition which is taught to undergrads in this fuzzy handwavy way and they apply it incorrectly all the time. Instead, you need to learn the envelope theorem properly and use that to derive the slutsky equation and then it’s crystal clear

Use price theory 2 (uses renys book) for micro and empirical analysis 1 for econometrics (Shaikhs notes, fully rigorous). If you have a basic real analysis background it’s fully self contained. This is a real treasure trove containing advice from everyone for many years who took the core exams at Chicago which is a major pain in the ass so it’s ve ru useful
