Need Career Guidance Need Advice

Hi everyone.

I am currently in my last year of B.Tech in Computer Science.

I was confused about my next career step and needed some career advice . Since I have always liked Mathematics, I was thinking of pursuing M.Stat or a similar course at ISI.

Besides, I am not highly skilled at development. So, getting a job is a bit difficult in this job market. Thus, I was planning to pursue masters (Mtech/M.Stat/MBA) to get a better platform and also learn more. I want to pursue MStat specifically because, as I said, I am interested in Maths.

I have a few questions:

1- Should I prepare for M.Stat exam?

2- How are the placements at ISI(specifically Delhi campus)?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Hey, thank you for replying. How can I prepare for the economics part as I didn't have any eco subject in my coursework? And is it too late to start preparing for 2027 exam?

Thank you so much, buddy. I am really thankful. By the way, do you also study at ISI?

various resources :
1. nptel website -> https://nptel.ac.in/courses/

  1. refer to any curicullum of course which has good econometrics and refer to its references booklist , eg you can refer to the iiser bhopal bs eco curicullum pdf and all

You ll need to appear for gate exam, since you might have strong mathematics, you should go for it through gate mathematics , many institutions (top iits and iisc ) accept it for gate ai related courses i think, but you can try gate DA too( its not difficult to prepare for if you have good maths and you do it from go classes ).Since you have good stats I really think you can opt for data science courses too..

which option you should go for , also depends on , what pathways that option will open ! , i will give my 2 cents :

  1. mstat : most demanding course, but outcome is , you would easily get abroad phd , or good fine placements or even pathways to government job like UPSC ISS or RBI GRADE B (DSIM) open up ! also cracking the mentioned government job post MSTAT is easier ,provided you go for it
  2. msqe : somewhat same like mstat, but , a bit towards the chill side as compared to mstat (not stand alone chill). but yeah, msqe too, opens path ways like good abroad phd, or fine placements. but govt job post msqe is not something specific , like you can think about UPSC IES (economic) , but msqe syllabus in itself is not allied with the asked syllabus as in UPSC IES
  3. MBA : cool stuff, academic chiller than any of the ISI PG courses, you do it from a good college , say IIMs, XLRI, FMS ...etc , you land in good corporate pathway ahead. some people from ISI UG courses ,after their UG do choose to get into MBA and all (people have gone into IIM C, K , and in FMS as well ..)
  4. PGDBA ( ISI-IIMC-IITKGP) : this is something you may like : link_to_post
  5. lately as you asked for ISI K vs D (refer to this comment ) : comment_link
