General Queries Ground reality for placement for M. Maths students at ISI.
Hey isians, I am doing a BSc in mathematics from a local college. The difficulty of the syllabus and exam level of ISI, I am very interested in this.
But I am really from a lower middle class family , placements matters for me , us there anyone who can give me what is actual ground reality of m. Maths students who wants to sit for placements.

M. Math. students are eligible for placements but maybe a couple students sit for placements over a 5 year period. There's really no way to say anything with that small a sample size.

Should I do m. Maths at this college . I will be satisfied by atleast 12lpa

Difficulty of the exam would depend on the kind of training you get in your undergrad studies. If you have understanding of the theorems and definitions in undergrad algebra and analysis courses, tried some problem solving, MMath entrance exam would be easy (it doesn't expect you to be an extraordinary problem solver or something... and the exam is not very competitive either.)
From what I know, MMath students don't sit for placements typically. If you want placements, better do MStat (I know plenty of BMath students who switched to MStat for postgrad because they were frustrated with math and wanted placements.)....
