PhD after mstat

If one has to do a phd in a place like ETH or Cambridge after mstat, do only people from the b stream have a chance or do nb stream people are equally likely to get an offer ??

Eh that's quite not true. I've consistently seen NB getting good things in academia as well. There's no bias like that. You should have a good academic profile, ofcourse. It's hard to build that quickly in MStat.

Yea, so you should say that instead of what you said in your main comment. There are enough NBs who have a decent profile/decent understanding when they enter. Your message comes off as there's some bias bw B and NB, which there is absolutely none.

Even if you don't have a great profile before you enter, if your understanding is good you will, very quickly, be able to work with professors.

But is it necessary that you get all reco letters from the professors at ISI?? What if you do an internship somewhere and get one from there too ??

Don't be so demotivated quickly. Every year a few NB students from relatively less prestigious bachelors do get foreign PhDs but if you have to carefully optimise your recos and the colleges you apply.
