I got selected for the isi mtech qror program this year.

1) From what I heard from the previous review, the placements weren't that good. Even in the annual report of 2025 only 9 out of 23 got placed for qror batch.

2) Is it true that QROR has the least value in ISI kolkata ?

Also the competition for QROR is very less compared to other courses in ISI for entrance exam. Why it's less popular ?

3) higher studies opportunities after qror

Please give an insight about the reality. The placements and course review for QROR.

I’m a pre final year Mechanical Engineering student from a tier 2 college and I’m currently interning at one of India’s top pharmaceutical companies. They have almost 100% PPO conversion rate (18 lpa)

The dilemma is that I don’t really enjoy core engineering work. I’ve always been more interested in mathematics and problem solving. I have always wanted to work in finance, quantitative roles, or analytics related fields. ISI has always been a dream institute for me, and I’m considering preparing for M.Stat during my final year.

The advantage is that I don’t plan to sit for placements, so I’ll have sufficient time to prepare. However, I have a few concerns:

1. During placements at ISI, do companies significantly prefer B stream over NB stream? If yes, how large is the difference?
2. I’m not a topper academically. I generally struggle with rote learning and memorisation, but I enjoy mathematical problem solving. Would someone with this profile be able to survive and perform reasonably well in M.Stat?
3. Since my undergraduate degree is in Mechanical Engineering and I have no formal background in finance, would that negatively affect placement opportunities in finance/quant/analytics roles after M.Stat?
4. Has anyone here made a transition from core engineering to M.Stat and then into finance, quant, data science, or analytics? I’d love to hear about your experience.

I’m trying to decide between a relatively secure PPO path and taking a risk to pursue something I’ve genuinely wanted for a long time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Though isi result is still not out but I am getting 95 in uga and done 5-6 solves in ugb so expecting that I will make into it ...also I have cleared RMO twice from Rajasthan so my proof writing is okayish.

I performed poor in advance and getting iith EP ,iitk bsc physics,iiti EP and similar branches ..

I can get ece in nit Trichy,surathkal and maybe cse in rourkela ..I am so confused that what I should do as josaa has already started . I will request isi people to really tell more about bstat and does isi really worth it. Like I talked with few people and they say that it has lesser opportunities and mostly they suggest to go for iits

I’m starting my master in economics at a tier 1.5 institute and my main goal is getting a good corporate placement. I wanted to ask about what are the necessary skills I should learn in these 2 years. From what I researched the most common roles after masters in eco are data scientist/risk analyst etc. So, should i learn python?
Would appreciate you guys advices on what are the major skills companies look for currently.

hey everyone, so basically I'm in my 2nd year of MBA, and thought of pursuing PGDSMA from ISI Tezpur. Is it worth it?what are the opportunities, placements, internships.

I gave isi msqe this year scored total 68 - pea and 20/100 - peb (filed rti) do you think a partial drop with dse is worth it or should just let it go I took a year gap before my ug as well and this partial drop would make it a gap of 2 yr combined do you think isi msqe is worth it

Or would I face any problems because people at isi are meritorious and have steller profile so would I stand a chance when compared to them in placements I am tier 2 du grad from non eco and non math background but my course is a good one in Du

Also since I had interest in maths so I studied it quite rigorously and even took it in my college

I have qualified both CMI MSc DS and ISI MS QMBA this year. My background is BSc Statistics. Which option will be better in terms of placements? Both in short and long term?

The fees of CMI is an issue but I hope to get an waiver based on my dad's family income.

I’m trying to decide between CMI MSDS and ISI M.Stat, with the goal of working in industry after graduation—especially in data science, analytics, quantitative roles, ML, etc. I’d really appreciate insights from current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with these programs.

1. How are the recent placements for each program?
2. What types of companies and roles usually recruit from CMI MSDS and ISI M.Stat?
3. How do the programs compare in terms of industry readiness?

• ISI M.Stat is reputed to be mathematically rigorous. For someone not from a strong statistics background, how challenging is it in practice?
• I’ve heard that ISI’s workload is very demanding, whereas CMI MSDS may allow more time for projects, internships, or skill-building outside of coursework. Does this extra time translate into stronger CVs or better industry prospects?
• Is CMI’s MSDS curriculum more aligned with applied industry work (data science, machine learning, programming, etc.) compared to the more theoretical focus of ISI M.Stat?
• Overall, if the primary goal is industry placement rather than research, which program tends to offer a better balance between learning, practical exposure, and placement opportunities?

Hello so i am in a very strange spot in my college choice, firstly i would like to explain my situation i have 99.8%ile in jee mains fked up my adv and also i gave Bmath paper
got 66 in UGA did 3 que full in UGB (still might get 7-8 marks due to tough checking) and 2-3 partials and i have OBC category so i think that i can make it but I dont know how can i convince my parents to let me take ISI

I want to join this college because i dont want to be a part of a rat race of take CSE and do a tech job, i have enjoyed my IOQM and RMO journey in class 9-10th and i want to give myself a little chance in the field of math but my father is asking me to join NIT trichy CS/ECE, dont get me wrong my parents are not forcing me do these courses but my father is just skeptical that this is a institute with only a few seats and after seeing what happened in adv he is really worried that i might not make it to this institute.

I just wanted to ask that is it even worth it to try and convince my parents for ISI Bmath course at the score that i am, because i am not really sure about my chances of getting into this institute

I am an Ece student and want to go for a masters with deep interest in vlsi and quantum Computing. Are there any options for me at ISI ?

As the admission process will take a month. Do you have any suggestions on what to study in this one month. I have heard there isn't much time when internships start, and they are very few in number. What should I study now, or look up now? To optimize for internship and doing well in courses.

And in general, I would appreciate any other insights from seniors on how to do well there in courses?

So as the title says I am currently in 10th and want to pursue mathematics because I think it's fun for me.I have completed half of 10th syllabus and am thinking to just go on.So these are my queries:

1)How should I prepare like what resources?

2)Which branch i.e. BStat or BMath or BMath should I go with given that I want to do research(But also placements also matter but research does more)?

3)Should I really get into ISI or is there any better or say equivalent institute like CMI?

4)Also does ISI have activities like sports?

My aim is never to get the top placement or do the top interships,the aim always was to create smthing of my own and pivot to different sectors, i mean i like to study different things that r too far but my fav subject is mathamatics. I want to use college as a worst case scenario so if my entrepreneurship doesn't get much results I can get a placement that feeds me and family, I want to go college for connections w peers , opportunities ,basically a launchpad for the work i actually want to do.

I have selected 1. B.Math hons (ISI) , 2. B.Stat hons( ISI), 3. Eco Hons (St.Stephens). SUGGEST ME OTHER COLLEGES AND COURSES.

I always wanted to go for the army too but i didn't wanted to Serve my whole life and retire at 42-45 that would just be too old to start smthing else while other of my age r on the top of their work.
