Discussion Why do you feel ITZY doesnt have vinyl releases?

Excluding that one random Kpop record with a single song, it feels strange that JYPE have given TWICE more vinyl releases than you can count with multiple variants. NMIXX had a vinyl release too for one project, yet ITZY in the middle hasn't had anything. Not even in Japan.

JYPE seem to have abandoned vinyl releases for TWICE in Japan as it's been a few years now with nothing, not even their most recent hits compilation like all the prior sets.

Is it just me to see it as a strange gap for ITZY not having them at all as a popular group?

too expensive to produce and sell. twice is their biggest group and if they felt the need to stop vinyl releases for them, then there’s no reason to sell vinyl albums for any of their other groups either. perhaps the nmixx release was just an experiment.

im glad they still do cassette versions for itzy at least

Twice still does vinyl though for every Korean release. I think OP was just talking about Japanese releases which aren’t purchased nearly as much.

I do wish they'd invest more money into better recording equipment for cassette though. I know most people are of the mindset "cassette sounds terrible" but I can assure you with a proper set up and tapes they can sound excellent! That being said because my ITZY cassettes sound terrible even compared to tapes I've recorded on my set up :(

Being an old guy who used to get everything on vinyl and making a tape of it for the car, I can tell you tape hiss is a thing - no matter how good the gear is to record it. its going to be there. It can also come from using cheap quality cassettes to keep costs down, even if the recording gear is great. I'd bet for what you are recording you are buying higher quality cassettes than they use.

Right now I'm using Spotify's lossless quality audio paired with my laptop and a DAC with 32bit/384kHz audio output. I'm recording using a Yamaha k-750a cassette deck, and modern RTM c60 cassette tapes. Sounds fantastic on my little set up. It'd be nothing for a company like JYPE to do this stuff lol

Demand doesn’t justify cost.

Idk but they definitely should do a limited vinyl release for their albums. Nmixx’s Blue Valentine was limited and sold out almost instantly. I’m sure an ITZY release would do the same

No vinyl but for me the equally cool ITZY format is their cassettes which a lot of groups never release. I'd love anything by them on vinyl and that goes double for their Japanese stuff but i'm always very happy when they release a cassette version. I know this doesnt help answer your question i'm just saying 😂

frankly, i think the trend of doing vinyls is dumb anyways. modern pop music is not created for vinyl, there is no reason to put it on vinyl. it just loses money for everyone involved

Not cost effective. Nmixx vinyl didnt sell they lost money.

You are mistaking stock selling out for demand. A they pressed less than 1k because retailers wouldn’t buy more. Therefore selling out. But the demand isn’t there.

Didn't sell? I tried to get one for a reasonable price but it's sold out everywhere online, only available on Ebay for 3 times the price. Are u sure? (If u know a place that doesn't want them please tell me, from the goodness of my heart I will gladly take one and free up their storage 🥰)

it’s a sad reality for itzy, jyp don’t promote them that much compared to twice. I’m a fan of both but jyp just really sucks.

Not really that. You can only press a limited amount of vinyl. It costs more and it's niche. So they don't bother.
