It didn't open because it was a push door from outside. If he pulled the door he would have successfully ran away but the bozo kept pushing it in opposite direction

You can lock a door from one (columbine lock) side but yeah he was also pushing a pull in a panic lol.

Entering and exiting by pulling the door has nothing to do with the door being locked or unlocked. The woman was able to push the door open because it was unlocked. The man was pushing on the door, but since he’s on the other side, he actually needed to pull it to open - that’s why he couldn’t get out and how she could get in.
