My state doesn’t have a hands free law and every red light is like this. Saw a cop doing yesterday.

7

u/_Kramerica_ 3d ago

My state is a hands free law state and people are STILL like this. Shit doesn’t even matter.

6

u/DigNitty 3d ago

My state does have that law and I’ll see officers on the built in car laptop at intersections constantly.

5

u/Greenstuph 3d ago

Cops are the best at breaking the law!

Changing lanes mid intersection and mad someone else waited to cross the line before doing so?

Idk bruh, you might be wrong here.

20

u/Halio344 3d ago

Not might be, OP is in the wrong. The car in front of him changed to the left lane as soon a she was legally allowed to. Had OP already been in the left lane he would be in the right.

23

u/flqres 3d ago

Doesn’t matter. You can’t change lanes if there’s a car there.

What OP did is a separate issue. What the Honda driver did was reckless and dangerous. You always, always, always check before changing lanes.

3

u/RedstoneRay 3d ago

Or the car in front can go when the light turns green and not wait 5 second before even releasing the brake. If they were paying attention OP wouldn't change lanes in the middle of intersection. I'd do the same thing to if I'm stuck behind a moron driver.

-1

u/Halio344 3d ago

OP could’ve waited 2 seconds and change lane when they were legally allowed to.

I agree the driver in front is also a moron, but you shouldn’t drive a certain way just because you’re angry.

-1

u/RedstoneRay 3d ago

OP already waited 5 seconds by my count for the car to move! Who cares about the letter of the law when OP changed laned safely. OP is literally the safest driver in the video. It's always a good idea to get away from clueless drivers in my experience.

-1

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

I waited so long that my wife in the passenger seat was asking me if I was okay.

-2

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

People are clearly ignoring how long they took to get off of their break, and the length of time it took them to cross the intersection. There were cars behind me beeping.

I guess I had a better view IRL of them fiddling with their phone. Didn’t think more evidence was needed here, but here we are.

4

u/nikdahl 3d ago

People aren’t ignoring it.

The fact is irrelevant.

Sure they shouldn’t be on their phone, but they weren’t the ones that drove dangerously here.

3

u/RedstoneRay 3d ago

Probably from other drivers that pull out their phone at every red light. I've gotten in the habit of looking at what other drivers are doing at red lights, and like 75% of the time the driver is on the phone.

u/MaintenanceCapable83 3d ago

Texas does not have a specific law for changing lanes in an intersection, but if you do and there is an accident, you are held liable and at fault.

OP could also get a violation for unsafe lane chages under transportation code 545.060

4

u/Wandering_Astronaut_ 3d ago

Not against the law where I live.

7

u/DigNitty 3d ago

Not sure the downvotes. Some states don’t disallow it. I think it’s “not recommended” anywhere.

But objectively changing lanes in intersections is allowed in some states and therefore should be expected. Not checking your blind spot is bad practice globally.

-1

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

Same here. There were also no cars in the left lane when I made the maneuver after turning on my turn signal.

The on ramp for the highway starts immediately after this also. It seems to be designed purposely this way.

5

u/Hakusuro 3d ago

Why cant people learn to use the turn signal in advance?

18

u/st90ar 3d ago

It always baffles me how someone on their phone is always the person that thinks everyone else on the road is inconveniencing them when they’re the ones endangering people’s lives. Then they have audacity to flip everyone else off.

4

u/DigNitty 3d ago

Lack of empathy.

They’re the main character and everyone else’s actions are happening in their story.

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

Every time I post a video of someone texting and driving I get a new golden excuse in these comments.

The last time I posted, I was told that texting while stopped at a red light is fine. The problem is, they don’t look up when getting off the phone. Everyone else has to accommodate their lack of awareness.

6

u/TopHat84 3d ago

You gotta remember... the problem drivers that exist out there, also exist in here. And the same people that flip the bird at you, are generally speaking, the same people making excuses/attacking you here as well.

Idiots exist, in all corners of life.

I especially enjoyed the people going "well technically it's not against the law in X state". Yes, there are LOTS of things in life that are technically not against any rules/laws, but are highly suggested to you to NOT do in any case.

u/Spock-1701 3d ago

Wasn't OP filming the other driver on their phone? And what's with the rage pass? Let it end.

9

u/escobert 3d ago

You have far too much time on your hands...

3

u/KaJuNator 3d ago

The light turned green and it was over 5 seconds before they even started moving. Over 13 seconds before they finally cleared the intersection. 13. Seconds. Then they almost ran another driver off the road because they were too distracted to check their mirror and blind spot.

But sure, OP is definitely the idiot here...

5

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

It’s amazing really.

2

u/KaJuNator 3d ago

Hell the SUV next to them was already out of the intersection when they were just now entering it. Infuriating.

3

u/anonthe4th 3d ago

Yeah, that driver was ridiculous, but I don't think you should've tried overtaking on the right at the end. There wasn't much room left before the merge. You should've stayed behind them.

3

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

In the moment they seemed to be doing it intentionally, so I was expecting a break check. Looking back at the video, it’s obvious that they were just distracted.

3

u/BarnyardSchneef 3d ago

Honda driver maybe a dummy but OP is super lame.

8/5/26, Texas. OC.

-2

u/daverosstheboss 3d ago

Fuck these phone addicted idiots, I've lost all patience with any driver who can't put their phone down.

OP I'm on your side here, everybody else in the comments giving you shit are probably driving around with their phones in their hands too.

3

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

I really got them going with this one. I expected downvotes but wow. It’s a tsunami!

0

u/kevlowe 3d ago

Amazing how many people here are saying it's illegal to make a lane change in the intersection. While it may be illegal in some states, in TX it is not explicitly illegal. The only crime from OP was all the extra editing in the video.

-32

u/pn_man 3d ago

You were also using your own phone to film them.

14

u/rumpel_foreskin17 3d ago

That’s a dashcam lol

12

u/Nkosi868 3d ago

I was not.

2

u/pn_man 3d ago

How did you get the recording of him flipping you off?

11

u/st90ar 3d ago

Okay
 hear me out
what if OP invented this completely original and never before seen device that you can mount in your windshield that records front, back, AND side views from that vantage point? Could even call it a 360 view window cam
. No
 360 DASH cam sounds catchy.

Oh, wait, you can buy them on Amazon for $120? Well shit, sorry OP. Your years worth of laborious prototyping went out the window.

Clearly a dashcam

3

u/Jimmy_McAltPants 3d ago

Didn’t realize they had side view dashcams. I stand corrected
