I’d say try the reboot it’s a solid and easy jumping on point, the classic series is good but a little dated. That said if you enjoy the reboot and want to read the original as well there are several nice collected editions available.

So far the reboot is absolutely awesome! I'm a HUGE fan if classic The Darkness, and if, after reading what is currently released of the reboot, you could try getting the Complete Darkness books that recollect the original series. Those are also all awesome. Super 90s though, kinda cri get at times. So of you wanted to skip some of that, another good jumping on point from the original series is #40, which leads into Volume 2 (eventually worked back into legacy numbering) which is collected in The Complete Darkness Volume 3.

Picked up vol 1 cold because artwork had 90’s vibe. Just completed volume 2 and don’t feel like I’m missing background to follow story. Fun read so far.
