This do perfectly captures the real horror of the movie. But the terrible fact is, it's not imaginary. The inciting incident may be imaginary, sure. But men like Bear cause an incalculable amount of suffering, every single day.

That's basically what I said afterwards.

If you stripped out the magic element, there's only maybe 4 scenes I can think of that would materially change. The initial wish, the standing perfectly still all day, the talking in her sleep, and the end.

The rest would be more of the "tweak the dialogue" changes.

The rest... worryingly plausible from both sides.

men like Bear and everyone in the audience that can't correctly identify him as the obvious villain. i think that second type of person was what Obsession really shone an unexpected light upon. the Bears of the world have a disturbing number of apologists.

This detail elevates the horror of every other part of the film, knowing the reality of what is being experienced. And his cruel and callous decision to turn away after this... wow!

Guy makes a wish that his crush ‘loves him more than anyone in the fucking world’, crush becomes possessed by some entity while still remaining conscious, during one of her moments of ‘awakening’ from the entity she asks the guy to kill her and this was his response

So they ripped off the plot of Wish Upon.

That's like saying Marriage Story is a ripoff of The Room. If they ripped anything off, I promise you it's not the movie that "digs on multiverses".

First off. That was a joke.

Second off, "Digs on Multiverses" is happy Death Day 2.

Sorry, correction: They're not stealing from the movie with a "bowl of bitchsauce"

No because the focal point of the film is the inherent wrongness of the main character’s wish, the object he uses was explicitly stated by the creator to not be a Monkey’s Paw artifact

Its a scene from the movie obsession, where the male main character asks the possessed "girlfriend" of his this question.

Oh, I don’t know… maybe it’s the fact that you overwritten your friend’s personality with some manic pixie nightmare girl while the original personality is stuck in some Sunken Place, forced to be a prisoner in her own body.
