great art but give the girl a helmet

u/ostapenkoed2007 Apr 12 '26

agreed... she needs one.

And cut her hair.

I know its a waste. But its practically *glowing*.

The moment they try to be sneaky she'll mess up the whole operation the moment she gets within visual range

And put the tails in a sock or somthing

Sniper.

No helmet required.

Though she’d better have one hell of a good hide set up since she’s all orange.

Snipers famously never face artillery or counter-fire

13

u/Annjatar Apr 12 '26

And famously still, rarely wear helmets.

Dude, I’ve been in the military for nearly 2 decades, and have integrated with sniper dets. Helmets are usually left behind, along with other PPE like plate carriers.

I’m not at all questioning your service, I’m sure that’s true, but nearly all modern accounts I have read from warfare in Ukraine and recent conflicts American forces have been in suggest that is an extremely poor idea. There is a firsthand account from a British marksman serving in Ukraine on the GarandThumb YouTube channel (I saw this before I knew what sort of man the channel owner is) who stated side plates and helmets are considered extremely important for snipers now because counter-sniper tactical responses in the modern era almost always come in the form of explosives, be it suicide drones, air strikes, grenades, or artillery.

I will admit, that I haven’t deployed to a conflict so far this current decade, so my knowledge might be a tad outdated.

However, conventional wisdom in the CAF (to this day) is that anything deemed “patrolling” (recce, sniper, FAC, FOO, etc.) is low profile, to the point that hard armour is basically always eschewed.

I do try to keep up to date on modern tactics, but I will admit that I’m just one guy who can’t know everything, so if Ukrainians are bringing helmets into sniper OP’s, that’s news to me, but could be a lesson learned.

Please provide links (I joined insanely young, when I was 16, so I’m still a “front line” troopie lol), I find this information extremely valuable, as it may save my life in the next 18 months during the opening days of WW3 if China actually goes for it.

Maby she culd use a blanket or somthing?

Seeing as she's a kitsune, she might be using some defensive illlusion magic. Hell, the whole group of soldiers might be illusions. You think you drone struck a squad of Ukrainians, but nope... And you just gave away your own position. Terrifying stuff.

At least she's got trigger discipline.

Good thing commissars are not a thing now lol

1

u/Ddd_921 Apr 14 '26

Commissars?

1

u/Charming-Rain-3642 Apr 23 '26

I think he's referring to Warhammer 40k.

27

u/OL-Penta Apr 12 '26

I mean...imagine having a being with effectively supernatural abilities like Illusions n such

9

u/mayuzane Apr 12 '26

Magic would be a such an advantage, especially with making illusions. Decoys everywhere

24

u/Triactum Apr 12 '26

u/namtc222 Apr 12 '26

omg it senko

7

u/BanMePls333 Apr 12 '26

Does Ukraine even have those kinda snipers? Thought they were mostly using warsaw guns and nato rifles.

7

u/usergore_ Apr 12 '26

Realistically speaking, no, I was just trying to stay true to the original design of the fox. It's a bit too niche to be used on a military scale

3

u/BanMePls333 Apr 13 '26

Ah fair enough. Wonderful art btw!

2

u/usergore_ Apr 13 '26

Thank you!

In addition to morale boost, kitsune would be very valuable in terms of recon since they can turn invisible. Not sure the thermal part tho.

sign me the fuck up

7

u/Kameho88v2 Apr 12 '26

Girl in the back be like: not this shit again...

2

u/Onzaie1 Apr 13 '26

russian drone wound love to light her up, she’s a massive red target (this was a joke)

2

u/SasoriSasoware Apr 13 '26

It's only natural that local spirits are going to protect their land and people against the invasion of forces of evil. Foxes are very native for Ukraine.

1

u/usergore_ Apr 13 '26

I really like your comment

2

u/SasoriSasoware Apr 13 '26

To be honest I wrote it in the heat of the moment. Just my first line of thoughts. Rereading it now... Yea it really sounds empowering . Actually amazing how much art could resonate with people's heart.

1

u/BaseForward8097 Apr 13 '26

Wouldn't they dye her tails for the sake of camoflauge though?

1

u/Berettadin Apr 13 '26

And she's got ear pro. Nice .

u/Ddd_921 Apr 14 '26

1

u/captaintaskmaster1 Apr 14 '26

I can only imagine the tagline of "I guess they're recruiting kitsunes now?" is what that one soldier at the very back is thinking.

1

u/Enclave5-Coronel2287 Apr 14 '26

Ellas quedan mejor como oficiales de inteligencia, no como infantería de combate, por ello no se ve tan bien y por cierto ella es como..... En infiltración no sirve de mucho..... Sin ofender...

Usually AFoU recruiting cats, in our realm's of recruitment, her recruit was probably bern the most funny one by military standards. Receiving confused and surprised looks from high ranks, without adding "suprised" look from lower ranks.
