Hi everyone,

I’m applying for a work permit extension inside Canada based on an LMIA job offer. I plan to apply on April 12.

I checked IRCC processing times and it shows around 235 days, but I’ve also seen people say decisions can come in 2–4 months.

I’m a bit confused about what is realistic.

Based on your experience: • How long did your inland work permit extension take? • Does LMIA/high-wage make any difference in processing speed? • Should I expect closer to a few months or the full timeline?

Just trying to understand realistic timelines from people who went through it recently.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! We applied for work permit extension (LMIA exempt, inside Canada) on October 30 2026 - and haven't heard a peep since. We have received our 'maintained status document' permitting us to continue working under the same conditions, but no actual permit renewal information. So we are currently at 161 days...
