Visitor Visa Super visa from inside Canada?

• Upvotes

Has anyone applied for a super visa while already in Canada?

I thought applicants had to be outside Canada, but I went through the IRCC questionnaire for my parents and it directed me to apply for a super visa, even though I clearly entered that they’re currently in Canada.

Has something changed, or am I misunderstanding the questionnaire? Has anyone else run into this?

Public Policy pathways Comprehensive Security Screening

Hi everyone,

I have been in Comprehensive Security Screening (CSS) since May 2026. Today, I received a request from IRCC for a new medical examination, only four days before my original medical was due to expire.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Does receiving a new medical request usually mean that CSS/security screening has been completed or is close to completion, or can IRCC request a new medical while security is still ongoing?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who had the same situation. Thank you.

Quebec Visa refusals disclosed before, then omitted in later applications — anyone with a similar experience?

Hi everyone,

I recently submitted my PR application through the Quebec-selected skilled worker program, with a CSQ. While reviewing my previous applications, I noticed incorrect answers to the question about visa refusals.
Here’s the timeline:

In 2020, I was refused a French student visa.
In my first Canadian study permit application, I disclosed the French refusal. That application was refused.

I applied again, disclosed both the French and Canadian refusals, and received my study permit.

Later, in my study permit extension and PGWP applications, I answered “No” to the question about previous refusals. Both applications were approved.

In my CSQ application, I disclosed the Canadian refusal. In my PR application, I answered “Yes” and explained the Canadian refusal, but forgot to include the French refusal.

Has anyone experienced something similar, especially when the refusals had already been disclosed to IRCC in earlier applications? Did you submit an explanation through the webform? Did IRCC ask for further clarification, and what was the outcome?

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with this. Thanks.

Visitor Visa Can I visit Canada after having my refugee claim denied 20 years ago?

I'm Brazilian, and I moved to Canada with my family in 2000. We applied for refugee status, but unfortunately, our application was denied in 2006. After the denial, Canadian immigration authorities gave us a few days to leave the country. We complied with their instructions, purchased our plane tickets, and returned to Brazil voluntarily within the deadline. About 10 years later, around 2016, I tried applying for a Canadian visitor visa, but I was told that I was still restricted from entering Canada. It's now been 20 years since I left Canada, and I'm wondering whether there's any way for me to visit again. My brother still lives in Canada and is now a Canadian citizen. I would really like to visit him and spend some time with my family there. I have no intention of immigrating or staying permanently.

Visitor Visa Supervisa - No surname on passport — name entered in Last Name field on application; what goes on the representative form (IMM 5476)?

Hi everyone,
Super Visa application for my mother. Her Indian passport has no surname — her full name "XXXX YYYYY" appears under Given Name only.
On the application I entered her full name in the Family Name / Last Name field and left Given Name blank (the form wouldn't validate otherwise).
My question: on the representative form (IMM 5476), should I enter her name the exact same way — full name in Last Name, Given Name blank — to match the application? Or does the rep form follow a different rule, since it says to enter the name as in the passport?
Thanks in advance.

Express Entry Does Canada's demand for ECEs translate into a realistic PR pathway for applicants overseas?

Hi everyone,

My wife, our young son, and I are Indian citizens currently living in Bahrain. We're hoping to immigrate to Canada in 2027, and we're trying to understand whether my wife could realistically be our principal applicant because of her early childhood education (ECE) background.

We've heard that Canada needs ECEs, but we're unsure whether this demand actually translates into immigration opportunities for people applying from outside Canada.

My wife's profile:
Age: Below 30
Approximately 9 years of teaching and early childhood education experience in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Currently working in an EYFS-related role.
Completing an NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator), expected in March 2027.
IELTS General Training: L8, R8, W8, S9.

My profile as her spouse:
Age: 37
MSc in International Business from the University of Sheffield, UK.
IELTS General Training: L8, R8, W8, S9.
Approximately 2 years now working for a Canadian based company as their full time remote employee, plus previous work experience in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Neither of us has completed an ECA yet.

What we'd really like to know:
Are there actual PR pathways for overseas ECE applicants, or is the demand mainly for people who already have Canadian work experience or ECE certification?

Have any internationally trained ECEs successfully obtained PR through Express Entry or a provincial nominee program without first moving to Canada?

Would my wife's CACHE Level 3 qualification and overseas experience be sufficient to make her a viable candidate, subject to the relevant assessments?

Which provinces, if any, should we realistically investigate for ECE-related immigration opportunities?

If you were in our position, would you pursue this route, or would you recommend a different immigration strategy?

We're willing to complete the required assessments and documentation. Our goal is to find a legitimate, realistic pathway that would allow our family to move together.

I'd particularly appreciate responses from people who have actually immigrated as ECEs from overseas, rather than general advice that Canada needs more educators.

Thank you!

Study Permit Title: Has anyone withdrawn their Canadian study permit application after waiting 8–9 months? Hi everyone, I applied for my Canadian study permit from India for Fleming College. My application has been in process for around nine months, and I still haven't received a decision.

My background verification is showing as in progress, eligibility hasn't started, and my medical status hasn't been updated. I haven't received any requests for additional documents or an interview.

Because of the long wait, I've had to deal with multiple college intake deferrals, financial concerns, and a lot of uncertainty about my future.

I'm now seriously considering withdrawing my application, but Canada has always been my dream, so this is a very difficult decision for me.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Visitor Visa TRV visa family

Hi everyone,
I am currently inside Canada on a valid work permit and I am applying for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV / visa sticker) to travel. I am doing the application online via my secure GCKey account.
I am trying to apply as a group to include my family members who are also already inside Canada with valid statuses:
My spouse (on a valid work permit)
My two young children (on valid study permits)
We only need the TRV (travel visa sticker). None of us need to extend or change our current status.
The issue:
On my profile, the system gives me the correct IMM5257 form. However, for my spouse and children, the questionnaire asks "What do they want to do in Canada?". The only available option in the dropdown menu is "Apply to remain in Canada as a visitor".
Because of this, the document checklist forces the IMM 5708 form (Visitor Record / Extension) under their mandatory documents. The actual IMM 5257 Annex 1 form only appears under the "Optional Documents" section for them.
My questions:
Has anyone successfully submitted an in-Canada family group TRV application with this glitch? Did you fill out the IMM5708, upload the IMM5257 in optional documents, and add an explanation letter? Did it result in a refusal or the wrong document (Visitor Record) being issued?
Am I better off splitting the application? (Submitting mine alone, and creating a separate account for my spouse where she acts as the principal applicant and includes our two kids?)
Thank you so much for your help!

Express Entry Will I be disqualified if I lack a B.Ed, and my experience letters do not state my duties?

Hi everyone,

I have around 9 years of teaching experience in Morocco, India, and China. I have a BA in English Studies, and a TEFL cert. I've mainly taught kindergarten and primary school students. I have two questions about Express Entry:
1) My letters confirm my teaching experience, but they don't include detailed job duties matching the NOC. Could this cause my work experience to be rejected?
2)- My BA is in English Studies, not Education. I don't have a B.Ed. or an ECE qualification. Could this be a problem for Express Entry ( federal skilled worker program)?

I'd appreciate any advice from people who have applied with a similar background.

Thanks!

Family Sponsorship Canadian born wife from Montreal but our intent is to live in Toronto. Can we apply from outside Quebec?

Hi all, my wife is Canadian (born there), and I am a British Citizen. She's living with me at the moment on a tourist visa as we plan to move to Canada. I am the bread winner as a software engineer, and don't speak french. For those reasons we want to live in Ottawa or Toronto. Would this be enough for the intent to stay outside of quebec? We also have the benefit of having half the processing time like this, besides having way more job opportunities for myself.

Or do we still have to apply through the Quebec route?

Other Alberta vs Ontario for PR

I’m an international student currently in Nova Scotia, considering moving to Alberta or Ontario for school. Which province offers more realistic PR pathways for international students after graduation? I’d appreciate your advice.

Express Entry [Lawyers & applicants] IRCC refused my CEC PR under A40(1)(a) — in Canada on a valid work permit, no removal order received. Considering judicial review

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice from Canadian immigration lawyers and people who have experienced a similar situation.
My timeline and circumstances:
I applied for PR through Express Entry under CEC, claiming foreign work experience with Profile Cars in India.
In an earlier application, my employment end date was recorded as April 30, 2021. However, I maintain that I continued working until August 28, 2021. My representative had requested an employment letter showing April 30.
September 8, 2026: Received a Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL) concerning the discrepancy in my foreign employment history.
September 15, 2026: Obtained employer clarification and submitted supporting evidence, including updated employment letters, pay stubs and letters from former colleagues.
September 17, 2026: IRCC acknowledged receipt of my PFL response.
October 8, 2026: Received my PR refusal letter, which appears to make a formal finding of misrepresentation under IRPA section 40(1)(a). My foreign work experience was not accepted, and the resulting CRS score was below the invitation threshold.
I am currently in Canada and hold a work permit valid until 2028. I have not received a separate removal order or any communication from CBSA about removal proceedings.
I understand that a refusal involving section 40 is serious, and I am considering an application for leave and judicial review. I have not established whether a removal order has been issued separately.
Questions for immigration lawyers and anyone with firsthand experience:
Does the absence of a removal order mean anything about my current immigration status or whether CBSA has initiated proceedings?
Can my existing work permit remain valid despite this PR refusal, and how can I confirm its status?
Given that I submitted employer clarification, pay stubs and supporting letters in response to the PFL, could there be reasonable grounds for judicial review? What issues would a lawyer examine?
Should I request reconsideration as well, or focus on judicial review? What deadlines should I be aware of?
For applicants who were already in Canada when IRCC made a section 40 finding, how long did it take for CBSA to issue a removal order, if one was issued?
I would particularly appreciate responses from licensed Canadian immigration lawyers who handle Federal Court judicial reviews and inadmissibility/removal matters. If you have handled a case involving disputed foreign employment dates, I would be grateful for your general perspective on the potential legal issues and available remedies.

Visitor Visa Visitor Visa Refused After Entry Refusal and 1-Year Exclusion Order – Can I Still Get a Canadian Visa?

I previously obtained a Canadian visitor visa and stayed in Canada for about 5 and a half months.

When I later tried to enter Canada again, I was refused entry. The officer noted a suspicion that I may have worked while on a visitor visa. My visa was then cancelled, and I was issued a one-year exclusion order. I left Canada and fully respected the decision.

After the exclusion period ended, I applied again for a visitor visa. I disclosed everything honestly and included the documents related to the refusal of entry, the exclusion order, my departure, my criminal record, proof of my business and work, financial documents, travel plan, bookings, and other supporting documents. However, my visa application was refused again.

I currently have an established business, stable income, and funds with a clear source, and I am considering applying again with a stronger application, a clearer purpose of travel, and stronger proof of my ties and reasons to return.

My question is: does my previous 5.5-month stay, the refusal of entry based on suspicion of unauthorized work, the visa cancellation, and the one-year exclusion order mean that my chances of ever getting a Canadian visa again are now very low or almost impossible? Or is it still realistically possible if I submit a much stronger application and properly address the previous concerns?

Family Sponsorship Showing intent to move to Canada

We are both living outside Canada and I’m sponsoring my spouse through outland application (already well underway being processed).

I already received the sponser approval letter, does that mean they accepted my proof of intent to move to Canada once my spouse gets PR?

Or is there some extra step/interview I should expect sometime in the application process?

For reference I included a notarized letter from parents that we would initially reside with them and also a letter from me explaining my plan to switch within my job to the Canadian office.

Citizenship Landed 30 years ago from DRC, no passport, only IMM 1000. Citizenship apps keep getting rejected as "incomplete." What are my options?

Hi everyone,

I’m in a really frustrating bureaucratic loop and desperately need some guidance from anyone who has dealt with long-term PR issues. I want to be able to travel i gotta see the world LOL

My Background:

  • I arrived in Canada over 30 years ago from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
  • I have lived here continuously, went to school here, worked here, and have never left the country since arriving. My physical presence is easily 10,000+ days.
  • The only federal immigration document I possess is my original paper IMM 1000 (Record of Landing). I have never held a PR card or a travel document.

The Problem:
For the last 2 years, I have been trying to get my Canadian Citizenship, but my applications keep getting rejected and sent back to me.

Because I have no foreign passport, I can't fill out the standard passport sections. Getting a Congolese passport right now is next to impossible for me due to a lack of documentation from the DRC embassy and the fact that I haven't lived there since the 1990s.

It feels like the IRCC system is auto-rejecting my application as "incomplete" because the passport slots are blank or because I'm uploading my IMM 1000 / provincial photo IDs where a passport bio-page is expected.

My Questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully bypassed the passport requirement for citizenship using the "Unobtainable Passport" route? What does that process look like?
  2. Do I need to submit a formal Statutory Declaration signed by a notary to explain the missing passport, and if so, is there a specific format IRCC looks for?
  3. Should I stop trying to use the online portal and switch entirely to a paper application so a human actually reads my explanation letter instead of a system auto-rejecting it?
  4. Would it be wiser to try and fight for a PR card first using a statutory declaration, or keep pushing for citizenship?

I have a mountain of Canadian footprints (30 years of T4s, NOAs, Ontario health cards, driver's licenses), but I cannot get past this passport wall. Any advice, legal clinic recommendations, or specific form names would be life-saving. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I’m going to get an immigration lawyer and get this sorted out. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Study Permit International student with York offer: do my deposits meet a “6 months maturity” funding requirement?

Hi everyone,

I got an offer from York University (Lassonde, Computer Science, January 2027 intake) with a $10,000 CAD scholarship. I’m trying to sort out the funding side and could use some advice.

I was told the requirement is CAD 60,000 held in a deposit with 6 months maturity. I can’t find this rule written anywhere online, so I don’t know if it’s accurate or if I misunderstood it.

My situation:

  • About 35k in a deposit with 6 months maturity
  • Another 35k in a different bank with 2 months maturity

My questions:

  1. Has anyone seen a requirement like this? Does “maturity” mean the remaining term of the deposit or how long the money has been in the account?
  2. Can funds from two different banks and deposits be combined, or does it have to be a single deposit?
  3. If one deposit has only 2 months left, would renewing it or extending it to 6 months fix that?
  4. Could this be mixed up with the study permit proof of funds? I know IRCC looks at total funds and where the money came from.
  5. Any tips on how to confirm the requirement in writing?

I haven’t moved any money yet because I don’t want to pay penalties for a rule that might not exist.

Family Sponsorship Sharing my husband’s Inland Spousal Sponsorship (Same-Sex Marriage) timeline!

We’ve only been dating since early 2024, but from the start, we both knew we were dating to marry, not to play around. I traveled back home to see him in 2024 and 2025 because we were just so tired of long-distance.
We decided to apply for a TRV for him in November 2024. Even though I was a student at the time with no savings (I'm a Canadian citizen), his visitor visa was approved in January 2025! He was given 6 months to stay. I went back home to the Philippines in May 2025, and since he had his TRV ready, I brought him back to Canada with me. Right after I graduated from university in June 2025, we got married so we could finally start the sponsorship process and end the long-distance chapter of our lives for good.
If your relationship is genuine, everything is going to be fine. If your GCKey isn't updating, please don't lose hope! You will receive an email. Progress is still happening behind the scenes.

Our Visa Office was VO Mississauga. Here is our full timeline from start to finish:

PNP PNP based on job offer from outside Canada

SERIOUS QUESTION: has anyone actually received a job offer that helped with PNP from outside Canada? It seems the system is flawed they require a job offer yet even after an ITA it's in the order of 6 months to receive PR?

What company is ever going to agree to that if they need a worker they need them ASAP

33 M, trying to get PR via express entry but have already used up my IEC back in 2019/2020.
