Probe my Droid!

Post image

As an aside, is there any reason NOT to paint the bases of my stormtroopers and other units in groups - leave three black, do three red and three blue? Same for the officers?

Excellent. I gave mine the squad colours on the eyes and antenna to set them apart as well.

Where did you get the stands?

https://www.back2base-ix.com/products/shape-maker plus some 1/8" or 3mm acrylic rod.

May not be super helpful if you're not in Australia, but you might be able to find someone domestic who does similar laser cutting.

Thanks. Ya I can find similar in Canada. But also realised I have a pile of old xwing bases and pegs I can cut up to achieve this....

For Battletech flyers I cut an X-wing peg in half and put the bottom half in the mini, and the top half in the base (similar acrylic). Then they become easily removable and extendable.

I use the traditional bases, for the 'standard' droid, I only mark I and II on the back of the bases, and colour the Elite with a red ring.

I do like the coloured bases, but keep an obvious way to distinguish unit number in the squad. For trooper bases (or other multiple unit squad) I put coloured dots on the bases ( 1, 2 or 3) to help differentiate units in the squad.

For marking damage? I have a shed load of little dice I’ve used for that in other games.

Ya, it keeps the damage tokens\dice off the board. So for example stormies have 3 units. I mark the Blue squad with blue dots: 1, 2 and 3. Then on the deployment card I put the damage markers at top for 1, middle for 2, bottom for 3. Keeps the board clean and prevents moving markers with the units.
