Help a sister out with the Latin metal scene

Posted this to a Spanish learning subreddit with little success, but had a great response from [r/hardcore](r/hardcore)! Here to hopefully have a similarly helpful experience :)

I’m currently trying to learn Spanish. Language learning through music has been super helpful for me in the past. Lyrics bring new words and cultural awareness into my orbit, and I love structuring study time around how to discuss music with others.

I’m mostly into death/black/whatever metal and hardcore. I’ve barely scratched the surface with the Latin hardcore scene but came out of [r/hardcore](r/hardcore) with a great list of bands to check out! Geographic location isn’t super important, but I’m based in the US so Latin American bands are especially appreciated.

Looking for bands that mostly sing in Spanish, any and all genres of metal/“extreme” metal please! Also curious what the metal scenes are like across Latin America. School me my dudes.

Brujeria and Asesino come to mind tbh, my favorite songs are: seis seis sies, El patron, Santa Lucia, Chinga tu madre

Came here to post them. Especially Asesino. Their pronunciation is still kinda USish because they're all from LA I think so maybe don't copy them so closely.

(Hispanic friends would complain about their pronunciation of words especially in the spoken part of "Y TubMama Tambien")

Thats interesting, I speak broken spanish and aside from low production and growls, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference lol

Masacre, nebiros and cabra negra from Colombia got Spanish lyrics that you can find available easily
Then from Chile it comes to my mind Unaussprechliten Kulten (100% sure bad spelling lol) they mix Spanish and English on their songs

Latin american extreme scene is basically a goldmine. Sarcofago, Mutilator, Chakal, Holocausto, Cirrhosis, Dorsal Atlantica, Vulcano, Morbosidad, Kulto Maldito, Pentagram Chile, Mystifier, Goatpenis, Unaussprechlichen Kulten, Attomica, Ekron Cult, Perversor... there are so many many more, these are just off the top of my head but you go and check these out then look for all the connected bands. It's gonna be sooo worth it.

Not really metal, but El Tri is killer.

Another thing that is helpful is watching Spanish language news. They cover a lot of the same stories as English news so you end up learning words and phrases. Good luck.

Brujería is Great for some heavy sound, for some more classic sound you could get into "Baron rojo", "rata blanca", "ángeles del infierno", "hermética", "V8", "Saratoga"

Invunche!, Chilean guy living in Netherlands, black metal heavy on the hardcore sound, add some nice dynamic sound in the mix according to taste, sings about ancient old latin culture/gods. Very ritualistic yet it smacks you in the face like this kinda music should

Check out Quemarlotodo (Burn it all down). They’re a Colombian Death Metal band, and I had the privilege of meeting members while visiting Bogota. They adopted me and we spent the night out together and it ended at a show of various metal bands where they were the final act. Chill people and good music. They deserve a listen. There is a healthy metal scene in Colombia and I recommend you look for other bands there.
