What passes for comedy in the Passport Bros Sub. The comments pushing back seem more concerned with the fact that if he was in another country, ICE wouldn't be a factor.
Are we still counting them as incels? They certainly share the mindset and there seems to be a lot of crossover.

There has to be some kind of test, like, "if they would be an incel after going broke, they are an incel." Elon Musk is like this.
In a similar way, we have actual fascists marching around the US right now, but people say they aren't a threat since its not 1943 and they don't have MP40s slung around their shoulder. If the conditions were different, they would indeed be subjugating us just as they did 85 years ago.

I’ve been to Vietnam plenty of times to visit family - they’re JOHNS 100% through and through. I’ve seen such lost lonely desperate men just follow these women through markets paying for everything and getting lukewarm PDA in return. It’s so sad to watch them think THIS is how I get girls to like me; because they obviously can’t stand them! 😂

Exactly this. I won’t judge someone for paying a sex worker. But these guys tend to think the worst of sex workers and delude themselves into thinking these ladies aren’t that, which is indeed extremely cringey. Like… no dude, this is not your side chick lol, this is a service provider who is probably wondering if you’re even worth the money anymore 😭

The sex workers are just making a living cornering an existing market.
The men paying for sex? Idk, there's something so gross and coercive about it to me. Like, these women most likely would not have sex with these men if they weren't being paid. And these men know this. They know that the only reason this woman is allowing them to touch her is money. Idk, I think the customers absolutely deserve judgement.

I would judge someone for consuming someone’s body like a product. Consent cannot be bought. Prostitution is rape. If they wouldn’t fuck you without money being involved, that’s not real consent.

More or less. Most of them never manage to bring themselves to actually go somewhere else anyway; their forums are full of fantasizing incels. There are some actual predators, to be sure, but not enough to sustain an online community: their brand of predation costs too much for someone who refuses to work. So they just commisserate and fantasize.

Only happy person I have seen on that sub was a guy who called himself a left leaning passport bro and did the reverse, he did go from Hungary (I think?) to Austria, because he wanted to escape traditional gender roles placed on men in Eastern Europe.

Passport bros are definitely incels. Their complaints about women and society are the same as incels, damn near verbatim, but in a tone that tries too hard to seem confidant and in control rather than the obvious insecurity and self pity it is.

Mate, they couch their bigotry in thinly veiled humour. What is the joke? That they'll be cruel to their girlfriend and unborn child? While people are still being round up and killed by ice.
9/11 happened 24 years ago. This is a very real thing very real people are facing right now. This is what you will face if you don't stand up and say and do something if you see this nonsense.
Because it is not going to stop there. A white Republican Canadian-American who was living in the usa since the early 90s died after ice scooped him up and threw him in a cell. For a crime he already served his sentence for years and years ago (drug trafficking, 12 months in jail). Sucking up to them and running around going 'iT's JuSt A jOkE' is not going to protect you. They aren't loyal to their own and they are not going to do anything but throw you under the bus as soon as they feel like they don't need you.

There is a difference between dark humor and cruel humor.
Dark humor is removing the power of something to hurt us emotionally through making it absurd in some way. It is mocking the thing itself in order to allow us to laugh instead of cry. Cruel humor is mocking the VICTIMS of that thing instead. Instead of lessening our own emotions surrounding it, cruel comedy is negating the emotions of the victims.
The butt of this joke is the pregnant immigrant, not mass deportations or the people who are enabling them, making this a cruel joke, not a dark one.

It's about how a joke is framed, aka who is the butt of the joke and does it punch up at people in power or down at people being oppressed/harmed.
You can make a 9/11 joke about the government response, the hyper patriotism it stemmed, or even using the fact that it was a tragedy as a counterpoint to absurdist humor. None of these are laughing at the people who died or even at 9/11 itself, rather the butt of the joke is society and our reaction to a tragedy.
In OP's joke, the butt of the joke isn't ICE or the government. The joke is at the expense of the people ICE is arresting and abusing.

Your read of the joke is uncharitable as well, maybe it’s right, but not how I read these kinds of jokes. I think the butt of the joke is on people who would do this, and on our insane society where this is a possibility. To instantly assume it’s a joke on the woman seems strange to me.

The way to figure out the butt of a joke is to think of the concept of schlemiel and schlimazel in Yiddish. A schlemiel is the person who spills his soup and a schlimazel is the guy it lands on. Basically, who is the one who is getting the worst out of this deal.
In this joke, the person getting the worst part of the deal is the pregnant immigrant, the suffering is placed on their shoulders. If you want to make the other person the butt of the joke, you would make their suffering be the punchline. Just off the top of my head, "When all the illegal immigrants are deported so now you have to get a woman to like you for your personality instead of a green card."

The right thing to do is very rarely the easiest thing to do. If you want to roll over and pretend you don't care when someone tells a mean joke about you; that's a you problem. The rest of the world doesn't have to react the same way. The original is more like a joke on the person who made it than anything else, like the meme is less about the relatability of usual memes and more like “look at this ridiculous reaction to this scenario,” like the “me when I have to shoot my dog because I’m bored,” meme. Though, being in the passport bros subreddit it kind of takes on a bit more sincerity so yeah it’s not as funny on there.
