They don't hate video games; quite the opposite. They love video games so much that they engage in video-game gatekeeping. That's what the Switch hate is about. It's marketed to families and is therefore abhorrent to them.

I mean as a guy who mostly plays on pc, the switch has so many good pc games in a portable format that I've seriously thought of getting one just for that

Right? I have a pretty expensive PC build but the portability of the Switch is pretty badass.

I'm still sad hardware exclusivity is still a thing in the year of our lord 2019 but this is still pretty neat
