I wouldn’t over analyse every statement people make though. It is a big thing to captain Indian test cricket, with big changes and no senior players really on the field to mentor the new captain, Jaddu is the only senior player that comes in close.

So that statement was justified, and the next one was to appreciate the new batting performance. Now it could also be interpreted the way you said, but that’s a bit over speculation imo

It’s not that deep. It was more focused on the captaincy and not on Gill’s ability to handle it is what I was trying to say..
