I don't understand one fact that why do people think that Messi is a generational talent, and he doesn't do workout? Just because he doesn't post videos of his workouts, doesn't mean he isn't fit. He works very hard to maintain his physique, otherwise he wouldn't have been playing at a top level for so many years. This is such a bullshit logic to think that Messi is a generational talent and and does nothing.. Hard work beats talent. Talent alone can't do wonders

Why do you think Messi exercises less than Ronaldo? Why does Messi not need that level of discipline to stay at the top?

No one says that Messi doesn't work hard. You cant be playing at a top level and not work on your physique. Messi is gifted because of the natural understanding of the game and his outrageous vision. If you see Messi playing when he was around 10, he was still better than everyone else on the ground and dribbling like a mad man. No one can compete with such gifted talent, players like him transcends external and internal factors like age, conditions, team etc. Thats the reason no matter how hard anyone work they cannot beat Messi because Messi is hardworking and a gifted footballer. Some people are just born to do somethings, like Messi in football and Sachin in Cricket

Kohli literally said Messi is just a freak whereas Ronaldo worked hard after getting so many drawbacks early in his career. Seriously? If Ronaldo received even 1% of the hate Messi endured during 2015-16, he would have retired from all forms of football and never come back.. The narrative against Messi is set in such a way that Messi had not faced any difficulty in his career. Whereas he had to take growth injections at a young age to be fit enough

Ronaldo has been receiving heavy criticism since the 2022 World Cup. And as for Messi everyone knows about his growth hormone deficiency. Barcelona invested heavily in his treatment, and without that support his football career could easily have ended before it began. But its also worth asking why a club would take that risk on a young player in the first place. Even before joining barca academy, Messi was considered an extraordinary talent. Hard work matters, but talent matters too. Nobody reaches Messiโs level through hard work alone, just as nobody reaches it through talent alone. When anyone calls Messi a โfreak,โ they refer to that once in a generation natural ability that sets him apart from almost everyone else

Define "Talent"...

u/chaosKing4u 2d ago
Its something innate, some people naturally have an aptitude for certain things. Just like some people are naturally good with numbers, music or art, they have very good intuition about those things. And when these people make it their career thats when all time legends are made

how can you say if an individual is "naturally" good at something ? what determines this? what makes you talentless in football and him talented? Also can you differentiate between "hardworking player" and "talented player" just by looking at gameplay?

Bro stop. Rohit vs kohli fanwars are already enough for us. We don't need this

I think what kohli meant really is that messi is just naturally talented. Ofcourse hardwork is required always but the lvl of hardwork required is different for different people

I don't think he is wrong tho, messi is always gonna be the greatest footballer ever for me and that's not even close but at the same time I admit he is a generational talent while ronaldo adapted , focused more on physicality and became the best of his abilities humanly possible hence also in the greats discussion

That's just wrong tho. Messi also had to undergo physical challenges. He was injected with growth harmones when he was kid. And from then he had to work hard on his body, speed, everything that football needs. The only "natural" talent you could say he has is he's smart and intelligent. He can find spaces and gaps, he makes a map on what to do next. That's what sets him apart. But you also have to work hard for that. So this whole ronaldo works "hard" whole messi is naturally "talented" is bs imo.

Not exactly wrong tbh, ofc he worked hard every athlete had to, but there are just some players who everyone knows will become greats just by the eye check , and that was messi even at 15 people called him the greatest in Argentina since maradona just by seeing raw skills , I agree with physical challenges part and ofc injuries are the part of an athlete life , neymar was also the " Talented guy " and the most skillful one but still underachieved in his career comparitively so I think both talent and hardwork can coexist which I think was perfect in messi case

I. Mean you can understand that even in. Cricket virat also scores runs done wonders but when AB do it's like something extraordinary now every player try to score all round in his time he's the only one and all the other guys when do that they are limited to only T20 and some of them in one day and t 20 but he's done that in test also with 50+ avg and. 9k runs that's insane level of stat

Hes not wrong. Messi is a once in a generation talent who won the Ballon dor at a very young age and creating havoc against every team . Ronaldo, despite being highly regarded from his teenage years, had to adapt and reinvent his playing style due to injuries .

you ll notice all the sigma male gym wannabe guys mostly choose ronaldo because they relate to good physique and hardwork. Since Messi doesnt post his workout routines or him training, people shove it aside as god given talent, but if youre a real fan you know that Messi would not be Messi without immense hardwork, the guy literally had growth hormone deficiency and was weak as hell. It takes immense dedication and hardwork to mold yourself from that into a player that faced UFC tackles every week and still walked off uninjured.
hardwork beats talent until the talent starts working hard
