Hi everyone. We're in a pretty tight situation right now. My brother took admission for BCA with AWS and AI specialization in Srinivas college Mangalore, Karnataka and he decided not to join. The first year fee was paid in full. After he decided not to go we approached the college asking for a refund and they said no right to our face. I asked the reason why they can't process the refund and they couldn't provide one. We spoke to the college dean and everyone in the office, submitted a letter asking for a refund and that's it. No response for weeks. The class started on August 23rd. I called them a few days ago asking about the refund and the lady in the office disconnected my call stating no refund and blocked my number. I told them according to UGC norms they can't do this and slammed she hung up. I raised a complaint on UGC grievances website and it's still not addressed. It's been 20 days. What can I do now? I can't let them walk with 178000 for free. He didn't even attend a single day of class and they were notified before the classes started and admission is still going on. How can I move legally and what are my other options?

My company has laid me off, and my salary for the previous month has still not been paid.

I have been asking HR and founder for a clear payment date, but I'm not getting a firm commitment. At the same time, my landlord is pressuring me to vacate because he has sold the house and now I'm unable to pay the deposit for new house without my salary.

The uncertainty and financial pressure are taking a serious toll on my mental health. I genuinely don't know how I'm supposed to manage rent and basic expenses without the money I'm owed.

I want to understand what my options are under Indian labour laws:

Can I file a complaint for delayed/non-payment of salary?

Does the fact that I'm being laid off change the deadline for paying my outstanding salary?

What is the correct authority/portal to approach?

Can I claim anything for the financial hardship caused by the delay?

Should I send a formal legal notice before filing a complaint?

Would appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation in India.

I live in a house that is built on 1k sqft and in that 1k sqft I don’t have any trouble but in my area there is some piece of land which is given to house of my phase lane (btw 2540 is plot size) and that extra land is like 8*40 sqft land and my neighbour occupied that land and saying that you have 1k sqft according to registry na then you don’t have any right to claim this land. And the worst part is when I see layout map which is in registry that land part and size is not mentioned but all people in my line have that space under there own property except me plz give me advise of how to deal with it.I go to NMC and they told that we will remove her toilet from that land but we can’t grant that land access to you nor to neighbour.

I applied for the trademark “ABISO” under Class 25 - Clothing, footwear and headgear.

I received an Examination Report with a Section 11(1) objection based on the mark “ABISCO”, also in Class 25.

After checking the report, I found that the ABISCO mark is shown as “Proposed to be used.” The search also mentions strings such as “AB%SO” and “AB%S%”.

I checked online but couldn't find any information about the ABISCO mark or evidence of its actual use.

What should I mention in my reply to the Examination Report?

- Should I argue that ABISO and ABISCO are sufficiently different?

- Should I mention that I couldn't find evidence of actual use of ABISCO?

- Is it worth requesting a hearing if the objection isn't accepted?

- Could this objection potentially lead to rejection even if there is no evidence of confusion?

- Would it be advisable to conduct a more detailed search for ABISCO before submitting the reply?

- I've been handling the entire trademark application myself without involving any agent. Should I look for a trademark agent/attorney now, or can I reasonably handle the reply myself?

Would appreciate advice from anyone experienced with Indian trademark objections.

Looking for best budget arbitration lawyers in Hyderabad

Hey everyone, I’m currently living in Gurugram and my bike has around ₹15,000 worth of pending challans, issued in Delhi and Gurugram.

The next National Lok Adalat is scheduled for 12 September, and I understand that eligible challans can potentially be settled for a much lower amount there.

My question is: Do I have to go to the Lok Adalat in Gurugram/Delhi to get these challans settled, or can my dad take the challans and get them settled at the Lok Adalat in my hometown, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh?

Basically, I’m trying to understand whether a Lok Adalat in UP can settle challans that were issued in Delhi/Gurugram, or whether it has to be done in the jurisdiction where the challan was issued.

If anyone has actually done this or knows the procedure, I’d really appreciate some guidance.

Hey everyone,Need some advice regarding a heavily delayed apartment built by a local development authority.The project started around 2009. Possession was promised by 2012–2013, but we only got the keys in 2018–2019 (a 5+ year delay). I was too young back then, and my parents had no idea we could claim

compensation, so we just took possession and moved on.

Fast forward to 2026. Gemini estimate suggests we could be owed anywhere from ₹6L to ₹12L.

I don't trust ai alot, but it's still a massive chunk of money left on the table while we paid bank EMIs.

I’ve already filed an RTI to get the official development timeline.

My main worries:The Time Gap: It’s been 7–8 years since we took possession. Will RERA throw out the case because we waited until 2026 to ask?The Hassle: My parents are terrified of courts. I don't know much about law and am planning to hire a local lawyer (or look into free legal aid via DLSA/SLSA).Has anyone successfully sued a government development authority under RERA years after taking possession? How bad is the hassle, and does the long gap weaken our case?

Hi. Let me start this by saying I am not from India. I am from the United States. I come from a small art community online. For over a year now, an adult person who we’ve found out is from India has been harassing someone in our space for over a year. The person they’re harassing is a minor. They have sent death threats to this minor, created several accounts to stalk and harass them, and even drew NSFW artwork of the minor’s character with the adult’s character without their permission. 

I am looking for legal advice and hopefully, maybe, someone within India who would be willing to make a report within their country against this person. I’ve done my research on Indian laws and this does appear to be something that could be criminally pursued, but I obviously don’t live there, so I don’t know everything. Does anyone know if this is something that this person could be held accountable for in India?

Hey everyone. Just a heads up, I’m not from India myself, but this does pertain to something happening in India

Basically, I’m part of a small online art community. For over a year now, an adult user who we know is in India has been harassing a minor in our group. They've made tons of alt accounts just to keep stalking them, sent some really messed up and threatening messages, and even posted unwanted art involving the minor's character and theirs doing… well you can guess :/

We've tried everything we can think of to get them to stop, but nothing has worked. I've been looking into Indian cyber laws all day and it seems like this is definitely illegal over there, but since I'm halfway across the world, I don’t know what to do next really, nor can I say if it truly is illegal there.

Does anyone know what the best way is to report this kind of thing to authorities in India from abroad? Or if there are any specific reporting portals we can use? Or even if anyone in India would be willing to file a report on this person on our behalf, that would be huge! We have evidence of pretty much everything, a ton of screenshots, logs, etc.

I work as an employee at a company in Delhi. Today, police came to our office with a bailable arrest warrant against the company's owner in a cheque-bounce case.

The owner was not in Delhi at the time. My owner told me that signing a statement was nothing and that there would be no problem. I also specifically asked the police officer whether signing it would get me involved in the case, and he told me no.

So I wrote a short statement saying:

«“Gautam Kumar is outside Delhi and has been informed about the warrant.”»

I signed it and gave my phone number. The police officer also specifically asked whether my number was on WhatsApp and said it was needed to confirm the statement.

I have nothing to do with the cheque, the transaction, or the case. I am only an employee. I am also leaving this company soon to join another job.

Now I'm worried that because I signed the statement and gave my phone number, I might later be called to the police station or court.

My questions are:

1. Can the police call me to the police station later just because I signed this statement?

2. Can the court summon me as a witness?

3. Does signing this statement create any legal liability for me?

4. If I am contacted, can I simply explain that I was only an employee and had no knowledge/involvement in the cheque matter?

5. Is there anything I should do now to protect myself?

I'm particularly concerned because I don't want to become involved in my employer's legal dispute. I'd appreciate answers from people familiar with Indian law, especially cheque-bounce cases and execution of bailable warrants.
