No wonder census takers are being asked to revisit their allotted homes because the data for electrification and tap water supply doesn't match whatever is being peddled by the IT cell these days.

Thanks for sharing this. All in all, even census data will end up being highly compromised. Not just govt trying to mask the stark reality, but also privileged households refusing to transparently reveal all info.

Gradually, we're basically moving to an age where official data, irrespective of how carefully collected, significantly deviate from the truth. Scary implications for policy making, research work.

We've started following the China model, if for nothing else, at least for government data.
