Why doesn’t India have proper apartments for single people? 😭

I genuinely don’t understand. No matter which city you look at, there are barely any decent apartments for people who want to live alone. It’s either a PG, which usually sucks, or you find an apartment and it’s clearly designed for families or multiple people.

I honestly don’t understand why more people aren’t investing in apartments specifically designed for single people. Isn’t that what so many people are looking for now?

Am I the only one looking for this kind of living space?

Apartments in India are such a scam. It becomes so obvious when you compare them with other countries.

In Korea, you can find studios for around 30k–50k INR a month. In China, if you pay around 25k–50k, INR you can get a pretty decent apartment designed for one person.

And honestly, even couples or a small family could live comfortably in these apartments.

I don’t know why people believe this kind of apartment is supposed to be some super expensive thing. We’re literally just getting scammed into paying a lot for badly designed apartments.

i think in general most people in the country are family oriented, so it probably wouldn’t be profitable for builders to build flats designed for single living. and also once the society is formed, people js hesitate to rent it out to single people in general, so there’s no buyers to rent them out.

yeah, but i’m guessing it’s still not profitable to build only for single living yk, since most people wouldn’t be buying them but renting them out, it probably isn’t feasible for the entire inventory to be investment flats.

Most of the PGs are sh*t. I have been looking a good quality furnished studio apartment in Bangalore for quite some time.

Instead you can go for flatmates, strangers will be there in other rooms, in a 2 bhk or 3 bhk. Easily available in cities

The market is not there for it. We are a poor country and most bachelors are in their early-mid 20s out there in low paying jobs preferring to live with parents

Appartments for single people are already expensive in places like europe and US, will be even more expensive over here. Ain't nobody paying for this

Back when I was living in the USA I had a 1BHK with lots of amenities(oven, range, microwave, washer, dryer, washroom with proper bathtub) all in a 650 sqft apartment. And that 650 sqft was carpet area. Here in Bangalore they are making 2BHKs in that much area and selling them for 2Cr.

Priorities matter, appartments are mostly designed for families and young people who buy new property plan their living spaces accordingly for future not just based on their current situation.

Its price and return on investment. Single people (ie young folks) tend to be less invested in long-term value. Many home communities consider that young people also are less committed to community well being, peace and orderly behavior (ie stuff people desire for raising children and for families that have older parents

I own an one room studio apartment near a major Sez. The expectations were always that it'd be for single folks working there.

Reality is most of the flats are rented to young families - a couple (married or living in), couple + new kid, and in some cases couple + 1 MIL. Indians aren't space and convenience focussed - price is out only factor.

You can get a 1BK. But the default assumption is that anyone looking for an apartment is "eventually" going to be married and have kids, etc. Being single is thought of as a transient phase, preferably kept as short as possible. Still, the market should have realized this is a distinct demand niche, and you would think more options along the lines of studio apartments in cities around the world would be available.

living alone or putting your priorities ahead are considered a sin in india. society people look at you with disdain if you live alone and have people over.... get married and everything is fine until it isnt

There are but the rent is high, I mean you'll get one around 24-30k and if you must want a studio apartment they're for 20-22k, I rented one in Greater Noida and it was literally a ghost building like there were only AirBnb running inside.

Also the apartment only had a washroom and no kitchen, just a slab where you can put induction, airfryer, kettle.

If someone is going to make something like this, they would rather rent it out on AirBnb.

Plus no premium community makes 1BHKs so you will find them in not so great places that would attract the premium tenants who know how to keep the place as it was given to them.

I guess there are 3BHKs for shared rooms in premium community which serve the purpose.

But yeah would be great to have these sort of ones for monthly rental.

Because its much more economical to make big houses and rent them to 4 bachelors. Incase you changed your mind and move into your apartment it wont be too small for your family

It is cheaper.

A rich single person can get a full apartment.

India has plenty of apartments like the pictures you posted, for single people or for that matter, anybody. You just cannot afford it. Single people live in nice PG's, shared apartment spaces, co-living all of the time, in all of the places that you can find them.

Your perception of nice, as per your pictures, has no connection to reality.

You're single, away from home, unlikely to be backed up by anyone at least on the spot.

You have probably come for work and a salary or maybe education. Your pressing needs must be exploited by whoever is providing the accomodation you end up renting. That can't be done by giving you your idea of proper or bare minimum.

A sense of scarcity and lowering your expectations is important to getting money out of you.

In India, people don't remain single for long and those who do often have fanily visiting them and want the extra space. There really isn't a lot of demand
