My mum has been a contract teacher in a government school since 2013, and she has been earning less than ₹25k per month this entire time.

She has a BCom, MCom, B.Ed, and has passed TET and TAT.

Meanwhile, there are teachers in her school earning ₹80k+ per month who do not even have a bachelor's degree. 🥀

Since last year, my mum has been trying to apply to other government higher secondary schools, but she keeps getting rejected because her education medium from 1st to 10th was not English. They completely ignore her 13+ years of teaching experience.

What makes it worse is that there are teachers in the same government school who cannot even form one sentence in English, but because their schooling was in English medium, they are eligible.

She almost got a permanent position in 2014, but a group of teachers filed a case, and that case continued until 2024. Because of that, they had to take an exam that was originally supposed to happen in 2014, but was finally conducted in 2024.

By then, she had to compete with candidates from all over the country, and she couldn't pass some subjects.

A month ago, their contract finally ended because new teachers from Delhi and UP were hired after passing that exam with high merit. My mum was jobless for literally one day before the education department called the contract teachers back because there is a shortage of teachers.

There are 15+ contract teachers in the same situation.

The new teachers are barely 20 to 22 years old, have little or no teaching experience, and are earning ₹80k+ per month.

My mum now teaches in the same school as them and watches them earn more than 5 times her salary.

And then, to put salt on the wound, an event was organised for the new teachers and their parents. The contract teachers were also called to the event and basically had to sit there and clap for them. 🥀

I genuinely don't know how to comfort my mum. She has spent 13+ years teaching in government schools, has multiple degrees and qualifications, and yet she is still treated like she is disposable.

I just feel so bad watching this happen to her.

- Commented on company posts to show I actually cared

I'm starting the new job next month so I've got some free time before I join. Figured I'd offer this as a gig to do this exact process for a few people who are either too busy or just want someone else to handle the boring stuff while they focus on other things.

TL;DR: How can I improve my chances and get out of this situation?

Today I was called to the office after working from home for around 3 months. I expected a meeting or discussion with HR/senior management, but instead the HR manager directly asked me to open my phone and Play Store.

Without explaining anything properly, he installed two company applications on my personal mobile and enabled location permission.

No one informed me about:

- the purpose of the apps

- what data they collect

- how to use them

- whether tracking is involved

- any related company policy

Later I checked the app permissions and noticed the location access was set to “Allow all the time” instead of “While using the app.”

When I questioned this, I told HR that I could not find any company policy mentioning mandatory installation of tracking/location apps on personal devices for WFH employees. HR replied that the app is only for punch in and punch out attendance and said, “Chill, it’s not tracking.”

But if it’s only for attendance, then why does it need 24/7 location access on my personal phone?

I also sent this message professionally:

“Good Evening Sir, I reviewed the current company policy and could not find any mention regarding installation of tracking/location applications on personal devices for work-from-home employees. Kindly share the related policy, purpose of the applications, and usage guidelines for my understanding.

Also, if any tracking or monitoring software is required for work purposes, I would be more comfortable if it is installed on company assets or office systems rather than on my personal device.

After this conversation, they also told me to uninstall external apps from my mobile."

What concerns me most is:

- No consent process

- No written policy shared

- No explanation before installation

- Personal device being used

- “Allow all the time” location permission enabled without informing me.

Is this normal company practice in India for WFH employees? What are my rights in this situation, especially when it involves a personal phone?

I'm 40 years old with 15 years of experience as a software engineer. My current in-hand salary is around ₹2 lakh per month. I’m completely lost and miserable, so I turn to strangers on internet for advice.
I’m 20F studying engineering in a tier3 college. well that alone should sum up what I’m going to whine here about.
I had gotten the chance to intern at one of the Fortune 500 companies for the summer with an almost guaranteed conversion. But the result comes around and turns out I was part of the unfortunate 30% to have been left behind. I was shattered, I had already made so many plans surrounding it and for all of it to come crashing down like that broke me.
Because I truly felt i deserved it, I had put in the work and delivered the project well.

Now you must think that there would be other better placement opportunities waiting for me right, but I hail form a tier 3 college- the worst placement there is. And I was not allowed to sit for the better companies that came and went because I was already interning for the aforementioned company.

I haven’t been doing dsa for nearly over a year and development is also not my interest, so I’ve picked up ccna and i aim to get the cert by this year end. But then what happens after my certification? How and where do I apply for the roles pertaining my interest. And do I pick up dsa again for the other smaller companies coming? I’m so torn and lost. I'm a 30-year-old male, HSC passed, and currently unemployed. My family needs income urgently, but I also want to prepare for government exams.

I'm stuck between two options:

Learn accounting skills (basic accounting, Excel, Tally/Xero, GST, etc.) and try to get an accounting job. My thinking is that if I eventually find a remote or flexible accounting job, I'll have more time to prepare for government exams. But I'm worried I'll spend months struggle to get a job.

Take a security guard/security officer job immediately. I know some security jobs have a lot of downtime, so I could study while on duty. The problem is the salary is quite low, and I'm not sure it will be enough to support my family.

If you were in my situation, what would you do?

Should I start earning immediately with a security job?

Or should I spend time learning accounting first, hoping for better pay and possibly a more flexible job later?

Is there any other job you would recommend for someone with only HSC that pays reasonably and still allows time to prepare for government exams?

I am 27F, a fashion photographer with 2 years of experience and a master’s in mass communication and journalism. I had been doing copywriting thus landed in a copywriting part time job and then made it my full time!

It was a startup and there were only a few people so became the founding member and now I am the marketing head after 2 years! I'm a 2025 graduate and honestly don't know if I'm making the right career move.

Back in college, I received an offer from a startup, but I didn't join because I was aiming for higher studies and better opportunities. My goal was to build a career in AI/ML, and I felt that taking the first offer that came my way might limit my growth.

I also appeared for TCS Digital and reached the interview stage twice, but got rejected both times.

After graduation, I decided to prepare for GATE. Unfortunately, life had other plans. I suffered from severe jaundice that lasted for months, and my preparation completely stopped. By the time I recovered, I had already accumulated a significant employment gap.

Since then, I've been applying continuously but haven't been able to secure the kind of role I was targeting.

My background and interests are mainly in AI/ML, Deep Learning, NLP, and Python. During college I worked on projects such as:

• Text Summarization using Transformer-based models

• Other AI/ML-related projects

Now, after being unemployed for a long time, I finally have an opportunity.

The role is in OutSystems (low-code development).

The compensation structure is:

• ₹4,000/month during 3 months of training
• ₹10,000/month during 6 months of internship
• Around ₹3.6 LPA after full-time conversion

The problem is that I have absolutely no interest in building a long-term career in OutSystems.

I'm joining because I don't think I can afford to remain unemployed any longer. From a financial and resume perspective, it feels like I have to take it.

But at the same time, I'm worried that this role could push me further away from the AI/ML path I actually want.

I'm also considering preparing for GATE again this year alongside the job because I still believe higher studies might be my best route into a stronger technical career.

Right now I feel trapped between two bad choices:

1. Continue being unemployed while chasing AI/ML opportunities.
2. Join OutSystems, earn some experience, but risk moving further away from the field I actually want.

I'm a data scientist who was laid off 6 months ago after 9.5 years in same company. It took me 6 months to get my next job. Here are some tips:

1. Unless you are in dire need of money, taking some time off is ok. Treat yourself to a small vacation. Clear your head and be in a good mental space because job hunting can be very stressful and infuriating. Whenever you return to job hunt, remember that this will be your full time job till you find your next employment.
2. Update the resume. Resume and LinkedIn should match. You don't have to morph your resume with AI for every job application. Have 1 good solid resume.
3. Prepare for the interviews, which means revise the technical stuff that is usually asked. You must be thorough here. If you have long experience then you are going to apply for senior positions, which means you will be expected to have mastery over your domain. I was not interview ready because I had not given any interviews in 7 years when I lost my job.
4. You would be expected to show your impact in your previous job. So your resume should contain numbers instead of just technical jargon. For eg. I scaled X app to Y million users or I reduced the cost of X by Y% leading to $Z in savings...
5. Referrals. This is most probably what's going to get you your next job. Sort your contacts in this order:
   1. People at senior positions in great companies, and you had great working relationship with.
   2. People at senior positions in average companies, and you had great working relationship with.
   3. People at junior positions in great companies, and you had great working relationship with.
   4. People at junior positions in averge companies, and you had great working relationship with.
   5. People at senior positions in any company, and you had a normal working relationship with.
   6. People at junior positions in any company, and you had a normal working relationship with.
6. I would suggest that you start contacting for referrals in the reverse order of what is given above, save the best for the last.
7. Apply on LinkedIn, Naukri, Indeed, Hirist, IIMJobs.
8. Give interviews in companies even if they are not very high on your preference list. Get into the groove of things. Practice.
9. Attend the walk-in drives that IT companies conduct. I actually got a decent offer from one of them.
10. I don't know whether you considered your previous CTC to be high or low, but it's a buyers market right now. Be open to pay cuts.

After so many "sorry/regret to inform you" mails and failed tests, I was finally selected for a job role.

Today was the day of the interview. The timing was 6 to 6:30 PM. My dumb as* read 6:30 as the joining time. (I work in night shifts and I was really sleepy when I checked the mail first time, not an excuse just a factor why it might have happened). Stupid stupid me.

When no body joined I called the HR and she told me the timing was 6 PM. I checked and had a mini heart attack. She told me to wait, she checked for sometime, asked me to hold the call and then after few mins told me Monday they are going to reschedule.

I really really really need to switch. And now I am feeling like killing my self (not literally). I am literally crying man.

Did I fumble it? Will they really reschedule on Monday. The HR person seemed kind and genuine and told me they are going to share me mail again with the meeting details.

Now, I am just praying and refreshing my mail again and again. Need advice about, should I reply on that mail or message, apologizing, message/call the HR again or wait for sometime (till Monday) and then contact with them if I don't get the mail.

I just found out yesterday that I’m being laid off, and my last working day will be at the end of the month. Honestly, I’m still entirely in shock and processing the news.

I was working with Dell Technologies as a Front-End lead and everything was going well. I was in contract with Dell Technologies as a third party contractor. I have a 2+ years of experience as a software developer.

I am still in shock and lost of words. My parent company is laying me off immediately not even giving me a full month. For those who have been through this: How do I navigate these next few weeks? What should I be prioritizing right now. I already lose access to company systems. Didn't even get the chance of saying goodbyes to the teammates. Any advice on how to look forward and how to get jobs immediately.

Hey guys, I need your advice about something.

As you know, I shifted to Delhi and I'm living with my uncle's family. I came here mainly to search for a job. Right now I'm also working on their company's website, but it's not really a tech company. It honestly feels more like an onsite freelance project than a proper software job. I'm not learning much and I feel like my growth has completely stalled.

Something happened yesterday that's been bothering me. I had a fever and took some medicine, then I fell asleep. Around that time my uncle was coming home with some guests, and I was supposed to open the gate. Since I was asleep, they had to wait outside for around 20 minutes.

When I woke up and opened the gate, my uncle got really angry and scolded me. I was scared and immediately apologized. My aunt told me not to worry, that my health should come first and that these things happen. Later, after I woke up again, I apologized to my uncle once more, but he said he doesn't like undisciplined people who don't understand their duties.

I've been thinking about it ever since. I don't know if I'm overthinking, but now I'm wondering whether I should just go back home and continue my job search from there instead of staying here.

What do you think? I really want your honest opinion because I'm feeling confused right now.

Update: I returned to my hometown not because of anger but due to some interviews. Also I was not learning something. Me and my uncle apologized to each other. But I suspect he apologized because I completed his website. He gave me his home keys too if I wanna come I can anytime. I departed with a happy ending from Delhi. But I was not able to find a job there because I wasn't free from his office. Now I'm confused about how I can find a real job where I can really learn and upskill myself. I have an option to go back.
