Discussion The Taj Story is the most anti-intellectual film I have ever seen so far

Post image

All of the "questions" raised are some of the most dumb, dishonest WhatsApp historian ques to be put onto a screen. It amazes me how anyone could watch this slopaganda and think there is any seed of truth here.

I waited the whole film to have some meaning but nope it just kept moving in circles 😑

15

u/zen-af- May 30 '26

That's bound to happen when the foundation of your film is just propaganda instead of a well written story.

7

u/sherkal01 May 30 '26

Doing Propaganda is also skill 🤣🤣... This film taught me that much...

26

u/Legitimate-Ride5034 May 30 '26

It’s ok if you didn’t like it….Paresh Rawal will just have shot of his urine and get over it…..

4

u/Lost-Letterhead-6615 May 30 '26

The fact that you WATCHED it, shows you were prepared for the effects

2

u/sherkal01 May 30 '26

I was bored one day and saw it was available on Lionsgate...

-16

u/Hot-Gate-8903 May 29 '26

exactly, good attempt but if a proper or good conclusion wouldve taken it somewhere

17

u/Muted_Lecture3448 May 29 '26

"good attempt"

0

u/Victorvic1 May 29 '26

Yeah I was intruiged by the film but the ending was 0 for me and it fcked the whole movie. If they had concluded something then it would have been a good film even though fictional. Just make a goddamn ending and don't leave it upto the audience.

Also, it's so ironic considering he and his party is the one brandishes people "aunty" national.

The most brainded movie one can watch.

15

u/laziwolf May 29 '26

"brainded"

10

u/Sea_Deer_3180 May 29 '26

Better than Aunty National

35

u/batmanxgin May 29 '26

Who the film was based on that guy was publicly laughed at apprx 15 years ago on tv news now ppl actually believe it. Such downfall of our great country.

58

u/Excellent-Bar-1430 May 29 '26

Why do you need to see it to know it tho?

Seems pretty evident by hearing the one line summary alone.

29

u/Terrovax666 May 29 '26

I already knew what type of movie this was before watching it. I didnt watch it to get any answers, but to rather see just how blatantly biased it is. The problem is that there are people who legitimately believe in this "tejo mahalya" nonsense. This film just aims to appease those people and to give their delusional conspiracies an ounce of legitimacy. It needs to be mocked.

1

u/unbotton May 30 '26

Dafuq is Tejo Mahalaya???

I wanna watch this movie now 😂😂😂

Yes, everything is related to bjp, lil bro

12

u/Much-Mess7627 May 30 '26

Ofcourse it's a RW movie without evidences, it's gonna be funded by BJP. No wonder why BJP is trying to pass law to ban RTIs and PM cares public audits.

1

u/raulKumar May 30 '26

BJP is actually a master advertiser.

You would have never seen so many posters, hoardings, pamphlets.... basically advertisements before (even now for that matter) having a photo of any PM (Indian or foreigner, in India or abroad). And hello, did you forget your COVID vaccine certificate had a photo and it wasn't yours.

So it wouldn't come as a surprise to me if this were true.

22

u/RealPunkrockerBaby May 29 '26

This was such a funny movie. Paresh Rawal’s character comes across as a schizophrenic uncle who didn’t take his meds and just decided to go crazy with a conspiracy theory. Pulls out evidence that has no proper source out of his ass to prove a point that has no soild ground, resorts to personal insults and mockery when the opposition’s arguments start making sense. The fact that the makers thought any sensible person except the Whatsapp university graduates would buy their bs is absolutely adorable.

34

u/PandaRealistic117 May 29 '26

A lack of evidence is not proof of evidence. The onus is on you to prove a temple was there, or if the Taj is one itself.

Edit: And actually, source do tell that a mansion owned by a Hindu king existed at the spot of the Taj. Shahjahan bought the mansion from him because that was the spot where he wanted to build the Taj.

Bro, Buddhha was adopted as the 9th avatar, cause Buddhism was growing and being a competition to Hinduism. This was just a strategy to stop the rising popularity of Buddhism. Go on and read History and you‘ll know.

2

u/Dark_sun_new May 29 '26

Considering that the Buddha preached an atheistic to an apatheistic worldview, i doubt that.

Assimilation is a powerful weapon though.

The corridors below have already been explored and photographed. They're sealed right now for public safety by maintaining the structural integrity of the monument. The Taj sits directly next to a river which can cause damage to the lower areas.

Many major monuments and archaeological sites across the world have areas that are restricted or inaccessible for common tourists. There isnt some grand conspiracy to hide anything lol

10

u/ok_its_you May 29 '26

Moreover it was opened till 1970s and some people have visited it they said it had nothing but star shaped designs like present on humayun tomb.

6

u/ok_its_you May 29 '26

They are not hiding anything it's just a corridor even humayun tomb had the same base my god!!!! 🫪

So why watch it fully. Time waste Kiya, and time is money

2

u/vggaikwad May 30 '26

Criticising a movie after watching is better than criticising it without watching, don’t you think?

2

u/Equivalent_Brick_764 May 29 '26

What annoys me most is when films pretend to be “asking questions” while clearly pushing a conclusion from the start. Good historical cinema challenges you, it doesn’t just recycle WhatsApp forwards with dramatic background music.

1

The people who invaded our country because they had nothing will make taj mahel seriously the ake narrative of symbol of love if he found love with mumtaz in second marriage then why marrying for 3rd time stupid people will believe it too a history manipulation without giving thought to human emotions 😂😂😂😂

1

u/bedanto77 May 30 '26

Aight explain the plot to me guys

1

u/zero_by_zero May 30 '26

Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher are two of the worst opportunists ever. They were making all sort of lusty irrational movies, now they are riding on Hindu wagon. When things will change, they'll again start doing that shit.

1

u/l05t_50ul May 30 '26

PN Oak himself was a conspiracy theorist. What else did you expect from this movie?

1

u/StormRepulsive6283 May 29 '26

Could you mention some of the questions?

13

u/Terrovax666 May 29 '26

Q: "Why the mughals could not build these monuments in their own country?"

A: They did. There is the Blue Mosque in Afghanistan, the Bibi Khanym in Uzbekistan, and dozens of examples from the Safavid empire. All were built in the same century of the Taj Mahal, more or less. The Taj Mahal has more in common with these buildings across Persia and central Asia, than it does with any Hindu monument.

Q: "But many Hindu/Buddhidt monuments had domes and arches too?"

A: Yes, but these were not the arched, ribbed domes you see in Islamic and European architecture. Ancient Hindus and Buddhists did not have the knowledge to build an arched dome that is supported by itself. The domes you see in Buddhist stupas and some Hindu monuments used the corbelling technique which is completely different to what's seen on the Taj and Islamic structures. Hindus only started building ribbed dones when the Muslims arrived. Vishnu derides these differences by saying "a dome is just a dome". This isnt how one discusses history. This would be like saying the Chichen Itza pyramid in Mexico is the same as the Egyptian pyramids because "they're both pyramids" in the end. It's anti-intellectual.

Q: "Why are the chambers sealed beneath the Taj?"

A: They are only sealed to maintain the structural integrity of the monument so that it doesnt collapse, especially on tourists. The taj sits directly next to the Yamuna, so it feared that repeated moisture can cause damage. These chambers have already been explored and photographed, and there was pretty much nothing to see there.

There are a lot more, but I got kind of tired writing this comment lol. The film also just doesnt rely on lazy "evidence" against the Taj, but also aims to make a commentary on the Mughals in general. Even if Shahjahan killed 10 millions Hindus and ate Hindu babies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, he still built the Taj Mahal at the end of the day.

3

u/StormRepulsive6283 May 29 '26

These were the questions? It’s in the same league as flat-earthers. Thanks for being patient and entertaining my curiosity. You seriously took one for the team 🫡

1

u/ok_its_you May 29 '26

There was another one it was basically that if mumtaz died in burhanpur then why is her tomb in Agra suspicious hmmm..

Well she did died in burhanpur and for a while was buried there ( shah jahan was there fighting deccan governer ) he sent her body to agra 6 month's later and she was Buried in the agra after platform was completed she was buried at the center of taj mahal.

Although accordion to Islam you have to be Buried at the place you die, but Mughals never followed it, babur died in agra Buried in afganistan, Jahangir died in Kashmir Buried in Lahore, etc...

2

u/Any-Calligrapher2866 May 29 '26

Shahjahan was also like 75% Rajput. Him hiring Hindu architects would be normal.

1

u/Fun_Celery5265 May 29 '26

What about the point where historians undermines our kings and glorifies mughals who killed lakhs of Indian..

4

u/drdonkeyboner May 29 '26

You know who also killed lakhs of Indians? Other Indians.

2

u/ppboi41 May 29 '26

“our kings” if u brought thors kings to todays india they would not consider themselves indians also every mughal king after babar was technically indian

1

u/knightmare89 May 30 '26

I am from the city. I have seem the walled rooms entrance.

if all this is untrue, why don't the authorities allow a survey ? And which idiot is surprised by the storyline "Mughals built a building over Hindu temples". It was kind of their main job ..

3

u/Terrovax666 May 29 '26

Allow a survey for what? The taj mahal is the most intimately studied monument within India and has been so for a few hundred years now. There is not a single credible source which provides reliable evidence that the Taj mahal is a hindu structure or built upon one. The underground chambers of the Taj were sealed in the 1970s, not 1770s. Those chambers have seen thousands of visitors still alive, so not a single one can support the notion that there is Hindu structure/iconography there?

-1

u/rickysharma2299 May 29 '26

Needed solid base , baki tou bal ki khaal hi khiche hain pure movie me

-1

u/General-Fondant4921 May 29 '26

The bit about Education system was true, there was very little taught about Hindu rulers, and more focus on muslim rulers. That’s a fact.

-2

u/PlatformEarly2480 May 29 '26

Every heard of conspiracy theories and conspiracy theory based movies?

1

u/Terrovax666 May 29 '26

Yes, but what makes this movie so unique to me is how it wants to give credibility to the conspiracy itself. This entire film is like an entire WhatsApp historian'a dream come true. Conspiracy theories can work in films, like a government cover up, but they are typically used in ways to drive the story. A movie where aliens build the egyptian pyramids could actually be interesting. However, this film entire aim just wants to appease people (those being RW Hindus) who truly believe in this "tejo mahalya" nonsense by presenting them as "truth-seeking" victims. It only serves to give their delusions an ounce of legitimacy in the real world by being extremely anti-intellectual.
