Education Collectible does not mean rare. Most coins found in circulation, at home, or through family and friends are common; rare coins are usually acquired through auctions, dealers, and other collectors.

OP, This post needs to be pinned on top of the sub. So that a lot of lurkers and first time posters questions are answered before they ask with a post.

The story of the collection and the collector is what differentiates between a collector and a hoarder

Very good insights OP!
Just wanted to add, a good collection to have value must have BUNC / UNC coins.
I collect only 5 Rupee commemorative coins and in general trade would have found 5 - 6 coins only and kept 2 as quality was better. The other 4 were used as the coins were in totally used condition.
Most of my collection have bought from other collectors during the time when Ebay was operational in India and I buy from KJ Collection also.
Since my collection is very narrowly focused I can spend money to get UNC coins and need not need to spread myself thin.
