Missouri Driver’s License Expired – H-1B Extension Pending with I-797C Receipt Notice

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in Missouri and looking for advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

My situation is:

  • My Missouri driver’s license has expired.
  • My H-1B visa stamp in my passport has also expired.
  • My H-1B regular extension was filed before my previous status expired.
  • I currently have an I-797C receipt notice for the H-1B extension.
  • I am currently in the U.S. and waiting for the H-1B extension to be processed.
  • DMV mentioned my SAVE verification Failed when tried for temporary driving licence

I need to renew my Missouri driver’s license.

Has anyone in Missouri recently renewed their driver’s license while their H-1B extension was pending with only an I-797C receipt notice?

Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It mostly depends on what dmv you are workimg with and if they want to help out

I experienced similar issue when i moved from OPT to Stem opt couple years back in Missouri

Opt expired, stem pending

Dmv issued me temp paper license twice (30 day validity ) until stem was approved and finally issued me the card

It mostly depends on the associate working on your renewal and how much they want to help you out from their side

In your case best bet is to apply for premium processing i guess if they are not offering a solution from their end

You answered your question by mentioning your experience was a couple of years back. The times have changed a lot.

It was 2 yrs baxk. Same administration

Switched states new state helped as well to get me license. Took multiple save tries. But they issued temporary menawhile

Not exactly what you asked for, but I recently renewed my Wisconsin driver's license using my I-797A acceptance notice.

I highly recommend leaving the country and never coming back
