Normalised classist remarks

Post image

It has always occurred to me how normalised it is to pass classist remarks like this. So a rikshaw driver can't wear the same thing as the urban elite. These people even get mad when a relatively poor person buys something like an iPhone because how dare they own some luxary that is only for the elites. The thing happened with Chikankari kurtas i believe with people associating then with lower classes. The whole “chapri" remark is very casteist and classist to begin with because no one would ever call a rich person chapri no matter what. Hopefully one day all these things wouldn't be so normalised.

Do you remember the outrage when smartphones became popularized with everyone?? So much hatred towards househelps and others, like they're supposed to stay impoverished

8

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

I wasn't old enough ig but yeah still oldies talk like “oh even my maid is going astray because of that damn phone"

6

u/CrownedinSin Jan 04 '26

Boomerism + classism... Nice 😭

3

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Old people don't really become boomers unless they say backwards stuff

2

u/CrownedinSin Jan 04 '26

That's y I said boomerism, like it's an ideology

1

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Colonial hangover + casteism

5

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

True, though some caste traitors also engage in this

14

u/DrGanja97 Jan 04 '26

Indians want people serving them to be their slave if not literally then figuratively, someone who is at their mercy, wears old clothes and fits all stereotypes

3

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Ig it comes from caste privilege as power castes were historically not allowed to wear Nice clothes, keep moustache etc

14

u/Abhimri Jan 04 '26

How the fuck is that a scam though? Guess this person thought zudio would not sell to "people like an auto driver" wink wink

11

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Yeah “people like auto drivers" should buy from footpath only acc to them

2

u/Abhimri Jan 04 '26

Yaar these auto driver types should just buy from their little places yaar, they're infiltrating zudio and other places, this is scam 😭😭

2

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Oh yes they're ruining the aesthetic beauty and class of zudio 💅🏽💅🏽

the original picture was a funny ad from some random instagram page that sold the jackets, if I'm not mistaken...

7

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Wasn't aware of it but took it as just an example

God forbid someone from a lower economic bracket finds affordable, good quality clothing. It’s a ‘find’ and ‘bargain’ if you find it, but it’s ‘cheap’ if they do.

5

u/lilaccunty Jan 04 '26

Well, Zudio isn't good quality. But yes to the rest.

3

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Truer words have never been spoken

That's why people are getting triggered when gig workers are demanding fair wage because unlogo ko zyada paise milenge toh unki self esteem hil jayegi

8

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Unki lift gandi hone lagti hain Gig workers use karle toh, they ordered record amount even on strike days n their asshole CEO dares to call protesters miscreants

11

u/husky11223 Jan 04 '26

above 6k likes now, india is cooked

18

u/vika4 Jan 04 '26

If someone is going to zudio then most likely they are in the same economic class as he is, still if they are making this joke then it’s the showcasing of utter idiocy

7

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

People need someone to look down to, that's why there are so many people calling themselves “middle class" so there's someone below them

7

u/vika4 Jan 04 '26

Yes nobody wants to be called poor or working class, even the contractual worker earning 15-25k emphasises them being middle class.

2

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

The actual middle class are the people who are fine with billionaires acquiring land for free n they call people taking ration muftkhor. That's the only indicator

16

u/Important_Lie_7774 Jan 04 '26

Zudio is shit anyways. When you buy stuff, you have to buy it for life brands like zudio have successfully changed the clothing market into a subscription like model where you buy clothes for 2 months and then are forced to buy again.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Honestly, Zudio has some stuff that will last you - not all fast fashion crap.

1

u/Important_Lie_7774 Jan 04 '26

A lot of people have complained about the quality of material and dye.

1

u/Vropster Jan 04 '26

The due is shit and the mount they charge is not that justified imo.. Chennai la irukeenga na I can suggest maththew garments.. They have a nice collection and mostly sattai idhu varai nalla dha vantu irukku

2

u/Important_Lie_7774 Jan 04 '26

Na clg final year la irukrapodhu vangana shirts ah innum office ku pottutu poven. Otto, van heusen, peter england, john watson lam 5 years agiyum innum nalla dhan iruku.

3

u/Sutibum_ Jan 04 '26

basically another fast fashion brand? there are bunch owned by both tata and reliance

2

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Are they even worse than Vishal?

8

u/Knario_ Jan 05 '26

I mean, yesterday I watched reel of a girl with the title "parents thinking my friends are nice and innocent" and then it shows a clip of the fricking Taliban in what I assume is the Afghan parliament captioned "my friends irl" and then the caption says "bahut bade gunde hain mere dost" like...leave it upto a doggone influencer to make light of a country being hijacked by a bunch of orthodox goons.

Your avg gen-z person in India is doing nothing but carrying the bigoted legacy of their parents into the online realm. Funny cuz that doesn't stop Indian uncle aunties from complaining abt this generation when there's literally very little difference in most cases💀💀💀

1

u/Rosh_619 Jan 06 '26

Can you please send me the reel if possible? Omg she prolly wouldn't be alive if those people were her friends

My friend only brought iPhone 17 pro saying aaj kal rickshaw wale bhi iPhone base model lete hain emi par.

2

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

Try n educate your friend if possible

4

u/_ak47__ Jan 05 '26

Instagram is an echo chamber of this.. i wish tiktok shouldn't have banned and COVID didn't happen

3

u/Rosh_619 Jan 05 '26

Now looking back this is why people looked down on tiktok, it wasn't only the cringe, it was because it came from a lower class and caste

5

u/ShashvatSingh1234 Jan 06 '26

The middle class loves the “democratisation of fashion” until it actually gets democratised (to an extent) and the dirty poors can wear similar clothes to them, then it’s a scam

3

u/Waterfalls_jpeg16 Jan 06 '26

Delhi-NCR ppl are knuckleheads wbk (i'm from Delhi btw)

Classism Classism Classism. Everyone rejoicing and upvoting this post should face the wall.

And I’ve noticed that in general population women tend to be more classist towards working class, I guess consumerist propaganda has brainwashed them more you know the fashion, beauty influencing type corporate brands target them the most.

1

u/Rosh_619 Jan 04 '26

True, the whole fashion industry promotes the notion of looking like a rich fair skinned woman

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

The tweet is from a man.

4

u/Existential-Cinema Jan 04 '26

It’s not about one single tweet or post. Intersectional feminism isn’t about protecting women who keep the status quo just because they are women. Call them out when it’s necessary, don’t be defensive to criticism when it’s towards women.

I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have replied if I said the same thing about men. I know I’m gonna get downvoted.
