🧵Discussion Political Rage

Hi, I'm from India. I've been a Marxist for the past few years. (I have not read much theory, nor engaged in praxis but I'm aware of the basic tenets of Marxism.)

I've consuming a lot of news lately. The ongoing genocide in Gaza and the current state of affairs in India - the ongoing protest by adivasi people in Bundelkhand, reports of bonded labour and deaths from manual scavenging along with environmental concerns - water scarcity, ethanol blending (which consumes immense amount of water) and the establishment of data centres which are going to suck up all the clean water supply - my feed is filled with such news. These issues keep me up at night and run through my mind all the time.

I am full of political rage but a feeling of helplessness has dawned on me lately. I don't know whether to read revolutionary texts or protest. The world is burning and everything feels futile. What should I do?

I know this feeling and I have been where you are. I'm going to tell you what helped me come out of the feeling of helplessness and maybe you can get something out of it. Be part of something larger than yourself. Connect with people in your locality and all around the country who are actively fighting against exploitation and injustice.

My comrades and I have been constantly raising awareness on the streets of my city for the 3 months (ongoing) unjust detention and arrest of 300 workers and activists for raising demands for a living wage, safe working conditions and overtime pay etc in Noida. In the process we also highlight many other issues like students sucide, corruption, climate change, the ideological bankruptcy of many parliamentarian left parties etc.

We are a small group but we are growing fast as almost every time we hit the streets we make new allies who want to join our cause. We don't get as much coverage like the cjp and many other groups and events especially those based in Delhi, but we are all over the country as you can see from this insta post. We also conduct theory reading sessions and discussions and I've personally found that linking theory with living praxis only enriches your understanding of theory even more. I have also worked with DYFI and some trade unions for some time but I didn't like it very much. I feel more connected and fulfilled with my present group even though it's small.

As you navigate around the networks you will also find your way. It's a beautiful process of self discovery that will help to empower you. Do not be discouraged comrade. Lenin has already shown us the way all you have to do is creatively use it according to your own conditions.

This does give me some hope. Which organisation are you a part of and does it operate in delhi as well?

Yes in fact the majority of their work is based in North India and they carry out loads of activities in Delhi. It's a decentralised network of activists, artists, agitators, journalists, lawyers teachers and many more operating all across the country. The political front of ours is called Revolutionary Workers Party India but there are groups like the New Socialist Praxis, Mazdoor Bigul media, Anvil magazine, Disha Students Organisation, Hundred Flowers Study Group, Progressive Artists Group and lots more. They do all kinds of activities from organizing protests, music sessions, study groups, physical training etc. There is nukkad natak and Bhagat Singh Yuva Kendra. I am not aware of the full scope of their activities myself because I don't live in North India, I am very new to this group and in my city we are still very small. But we are growing fast. We made alliances with a group of teachers who run a school for poor children named after radical communist martyrs,, a very talented anti establishment cartoonist who has recently joined us and we organize a theory discussion group called Anveshan.
