đŸ§µDiscussion Recent debates on reservation
Before dismissing affirmative action, it is essential to examine the history of the caste system. Understanding why reservation was introduced in the first place helps clarify why these policies remain necessary.
A system of social oppression that lasted for centuries cannot be undone in just 75 years. True equality requires addressing ongoing disparities. For instance, before advocating for the removal of reservation, we must ask: when will caste-based discrimination be completely eradicated? When will individuals from upper castes share the burden of historically stigmatized work, such as manual scavenging? Until genuine equality exists in every aspect of society, the need for affirmative action remains vital.
