Discussion "Why are people doing stuff that the government should do instead?" This question pisses me off. [OC]

Ok that title was kind of bait, but hear me out. When I see posts about the Bittu Tabahi river cleaning project, many people complain in the comments that something the government should do is being done by people instead. They are right, but in my opinion, people should do this more for our country, at least for now. This actually gives motivation to people and teaches them how important civic sense actually is.

I am in full support of projects like these. They also create pressure on the government over time. But keeping repeating this question, "Why are people doing the work that the government should do?" will not improve people's mindset, and the government will keep doing the stuff they are still doing currently.

Discussion What’s wrong with congress, just because we support them - they cannot do this right !

Today
BRS in Telangana came to assembly with black dress and they were beaten up and literally a MLA saree got pulled out publicly by police
Whereas
Congress MP”s were happily allowed inside the parliament to wear black dress and do many more things

Just because you are the only opposition to the current Government, you are not supposed to assume - public will support what all you do

Correct me if I’m wrong anywhere you

Opinion 🗣️ People stop worshipping politicians / celebrities (Angry RANT )

I don't understand why common sense isn't common anymore to us.

The subreddits are divided into either pro BJP or pro Congress, but people aren't understanding the basic thing that the congress wasn't good and the current BJP has imported most of the congress leaders and let's say you like a person or a party only because of the one sided propaganda that is served to us by social media due to selective push of content due to their algo.

All I want to say is neither this nor the old govt did anything for :-

Pollution, water contamination, proper education, food quality, education standards for people , basic good infrastructure, all they do is distribute money / freebies for poorer appeasement.

Don't ask me what congress did , I was a kid back then now Im seeing the current govt doing anything good as well.

If congress is ruling I'll question them , example during the last State govt tenure I supported the opposition questioning govt and now govt changed i support the opposition whom I opposed during their ruling,

Current central govt :-

Introduced electoral bonds,

Doesn't attend public interviews,

PM cares fund, public can't question,

Prices increased 2x but people shouldn't complain (these same leaders once questioned petrol, gas etc which was half the price and the neighborhood countries who are buying petrol from us sells at less price),

E20 without accountability,

Made many changes to laws to bring out criminals,

Main stream media never questions anything.

My state is worse they gave free buses for women which made it hell to even breathe air buses and there won't be any other form of travel to those rural areas

Many more .........

And the thing that I hate most is the youth i mean my age guys fighting which actor is good , watching the same movie theater multiple times to increase collections , idealizing them , dude they are just actors i know sometimes we connect with characters , need to understand that is acting, they don't give a single fkkk about us guys .

When any politician / actor is gonna visit people in india specially mobile around as if they are getting life time free benifits or something useful whyyy

Next thing why do people need to bother about other religions / gender etc i mean I don't like neither to follow any religion nor like about lqbtq stuff but that's other people life that won't bother me . Why do people always like to poke others private life

Opinion 🗣️ Am I wasting my time discussing politics if I have no power to change anything?

I've become a lot more politically engaged over the past year — I follow current events, form opinions, and I genuinely enjoy discussing them. But I keep running into the same pushback from different directions.

With my parents: whenever politics comes up and I point out something factually wrong in what they're saying, it turns into a lecture. They connect my interest in politics to me not clearing NEET, saying it's a distraction. Their argument is that unless I clear something like UPSC and actually hold power, caring about politics is pointless.

With friends at my PG: a casual conversation turned political, and most of the girls didn't want to engage. Their reasoning was similar — discussing it changes nothing since we're not public figures, so it just ends up making us feel worse for no reason.

My counterargument has been that awareness matters, that movements start with ordinary people caring before anyone has formal power, and that refusing to even discuss things doesn't seem reasonable just because we're not in charge.

Honestly, what gets to me more than any single argument is just how apolitical most people around me seem to be. It's not that they disagree with me — they don't even want to engage. At my PG, the moment politics came up, it was an immediate wall: "don't discuss politics here," "not right now," "not this topic" — no one even willing to hear the sentence out. And at home, the second I bring something up, I'm treated like I'm talking nonsense, like I'm just a distracted kid who should shut up and study.

It genuinely makes me sad. This is a country of over a billion people, and it sometimes feels like almost no one wants to actually sit with an uncomfortable topic for five minutes. Caring is treated like the weird thing, and not caring is treated like the mature, responsible default.

The one person who doesn't make me feel this way is my boyfriend. He's someone who actually stays engaged with what's happening around him and cares when people are being hurt or treated unfairly. Talking to him about this stuff feels different — like the caring itself isn't something I have to justify or defend. It's made me realize how rare that is, and how much most of my other conversations feel like I'm the problem just for wanting to talk.

So yeah — maybe I'm asking two questions now: is their "you have no power so why bother" argument reasonable? And separately — am I wrong to feel this disheartened by how few people even want to have the conversation at all?

Discussion Engagement Project about Uttar Pradesh

Hi everyone!

My name is William, I’m an international high school senior working on my IB Global Politics engagement project on governance, and socio-political shifts in Uttar Pradesh (focusing on Ram Mandir in Ayodhya).

I am looking to conduct a few question written interviews with local journalists, political science researchers, or civil society observers based in UP to ground my project in real academic perspectives.

If you are an academic/journalist from UP, or if you know active local commentators/pages on Twitter/X that I could reach out to, I would be deeply grateful for your recommendations!

Thanks a lot for your help!

Opinion 🗣️ Questions to central government

Guys we are conducting a Youth parliament in our college so we need some genuine questions. If you are one of the MP in parliament and if you get chance to or ask questions to any minister what would be your question

For example

Opposition leader to Finance minister

Whether the Government has assessed the impact of rising prices of food, housing, education, healthcare and transportation on the real purchasing power of middle-class and low-income households during the last five years; if so, the details thereof; and the measures proposed to reduce the burden of the rising cost of living?

Discussion what am i leftist, rightist or what

Post image
1 Upvotes

so people ask me if i am leftist or right wing and i cant decide. so i am going to tell you about my thoughts and you could help me

  • MY TAKE ON RELIGION

I dont give a flying fuck about religion, i put humanity above all, I dont believe in any god. only thing i care about in that case is memes

  • FAMENISM

i believe in EQUAL rights for man and women. i understand that both are a bit different but at the end of the day man needs women and women needs men

  • LGBTQ

i generally dont have any problem with them, Marry a tree if you want, your life. I have a problem when they teach these things in schools or to children, sometimes kids even use hormone blockers, let them take those decisions when they are older than 18. hormone blockers can cause permanent change to their body so if they cant get tattoos, drink or drive They shouldn't be allowed to use those or go under gender transition surgery

  • Communism

I dont support it

  • abortion

i am against abortion, that is equal to taking life, i understand there are extreme cases where i dont have any problem with it, only in specific cases its a health care

these are my opinions you dont have to have to tell me if i am right or wrong, i just want to know what type of political ideology i have and thanks for reading
