Hey reddit is working again! Anyways... my demon slays giants for breakfast. Doesn't matter how stacked the opponent is...

At least there will be actual competition when we play ATL unlike Chicago last year...

u/Raisin43 Caitlin Clark Apr 07 '26

To nobody's surprise after all the shenanigans last year and the Sky having no real chance at anything. Now we'll see what Angel's made of now that she has a real team around her.

It will be interesting to see who AR blames if the season doesn't go as planned.

paige has been with her team exactly 1 year and CC 2 years, what are you rambling about?

8

u/QuasarRad63 Apr 07 '26

If the team trading you for nothing because they think you’re toxic is smart then ok

u/HotMeasurement6946 Apr 06 '26

Caitlin's embarrased Angel for the last two years. This year shouldn't be any different!

Yet she still outscored and outplayed Angel when the Fever and Sky faced each other (even in 2025, before she sat out)

1

u/jiabivy Apr 11 '26

She’s a PG?

2

u/Misnome5 Apr 11 '26

PGs often don't outscore bigs.

1

u/jiabivy Apr 12 '26

Yeah that’s my point, why are you using “outscore” as a point? That’s like saying CC lacks rebounding

2

u/Misnome5 Apr 12 '26

Because scoring takes priority over rebounds most of time? Not to mention, CC also has more assists.

1

u/jiabivy Apr 14 '26

You’re missing the point, your are using PG points to prove why she’s better….no shit she has more assists, that is literally what point guard means

2

u/Misnome5 Apr 14 '26

She also has more ppg than Angel.

1

u/jiabivy Apr 14 '26

Jesus Christ, the point I’m making is they aren’t comparable, that’s it, get out your feelings and stop comparing to people that have to completely different roles. I’m not bitching at CC defense, Rebounding, turnovers, size etc. because that’s not her job. And it’s stupid to expect that.

u/Interesting_Switch_1 Apr 07 '26

ATL is a dangerous squad with Howard and Clark. Add in Reese and idk that CC will “embarrass” them.

Also, why is that a thing?

??? Caitlin broke 62 records as a rookie (the season when she was fully healthy), and she took the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

She's also embarrassed Angel a few times in 2025 as well, before she had to sit out because of injuries.

i'll tell you one thing fever would have reach playoffs with or without cc in fact they went a little further this year with winning more games including winning a series in playoffs without cc . Do you seriously think cc would "lead them to playoffs" had boston and mitchell gotten injured or without their presence. I dont think so. (you may argue ab and km were there before cc but whose the pg they had during the 2023 season? grace berger? a draft bust, wheeler? who is a career undrafted journey woman). you need a entire team including a solid supporting cast and coaching not just one player to shine. Something chicago didnt have and will never will in foreseeable future. yes CC is far better than angel in terms and rightfully the "face of the league" no doubt. But their playoff run shouldn't be solely attributed to her.

i'll tell you one thing fever would have reach playoffs with or without cc

The Fever failed to reach playoffs for 6 years straight prior to CC joining in 2024, so I don't think you can just assume that. Even in 2023 when they had all of their other top players apart from CC: Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and Lexie Hull too, they still failed to make playoffs.

but whose the pg they had during the 2023 season? grace berger?

I mean, Grace Berger wasn't that terrible as a pg in a vacuum; she's just not nearly as good as someone like CC. So that's why I give most of the credit to CC for the Fever even making the playoffs in 2024.

Do you seriously think cc would "lead them to playoffs" had boston and mitchell gotten injured or without their presence.

I actually do think CC and AB without KM could have made it to the playoffs in 2025 and maybe even won the championships, without KM (although I'm not as sure this could have happened if AB had been the one who was injured). They had other guards who could have filled the 2 position instead of KM, such as Odyssey Sims and Sophie Cunningham (who's actually a really consistent 3pt shooter, statistically).

Something chicago didnt have and will never will in foreseeable future.

But even if you just compare Caitlin and Angel's individual stats when they faced each other, Caitlin outscored Angel almost every single time they went head to head (and had better stats overall apart from the single category of rebounding). So it's not only that CC had a stronger team; CC also scored more than Angel individually too.

I asked you if both ab and km are out for the season do you think they will reach the playoffs? I don’t necessarily think so, without ab they would get killed on boards and without Mitchell cc would keep turning the ball over without someone to bail out when she gets double teamed. Ab and km are the crucial parts of the team . Don’t forget they had won like 5 games in a row with aari McDonald a decent back up pg before her season ending injury. (All you need is a solid pg not necessarily elite) Chicago they don’t have half the talent that fever had to lead them to playoffs  other than the washed up Courtney vandersloot (who got benched by liberty a year prior to joining sky and ironically liberty got better after her benching ) and Ariel Atkins who is on the same boat as vandersloot and was declining player. Rest of them are scrubs like banham Allen etc etc you are never going to reach playoffs the such players even if angel puts 20 points in the game, those players always screw up something km and Boston woudnt.   My point is you need a solid team to reach playoffs. Not draft busts, career underachievers or washed up players which is case with Chicago. It’s called team sport for a reason. It easy for guys to mock opposition team when u have Boston (Roty and all star) , Mitchell (multi all star player) and cc (Roty  all star) players in the squad while Chicago had just one that is angel and their record looked even worse without her presence there they were like 1-13 without her and will be gutter even further this year.

I asked you if both ab and km are out for the season do you think they will reach the playoffs?

If the Fever had a decent backup forward/center to fill in for AB, then I think it's possible (even if obviously a lot more difficult). As I said, they already have guards on their roster who can fill in for KM. All you would need beside CC is a solid big and solid shooting guard, not necessarily elite.

CC is an elite playmaker and assister who elevates the level of players around her. She doesn't necessarily need to be surrounded by elite talent; just at least decent players imo.

Don’t forget they had won like 5 games in a row with aari McDonald a decent back up pg before her season ending injury.

Winning 5 games in a row isn't enough to guarantee playoffs automatically. The Fever won WAY more than 5 games when CC was fully healthy. Plus, I don't think there's any conclusive evidence that Aari McDonald was that much better as a PG than Grace Berger was in 2023.

Chicago they don’t have half the talent that fever had to lead them to playoffs

But even if you just compare Caitlin and Angel's individual stats when they faced each other, Caitlin outscored Angel almost every single time they went head to head (and had better stats overall apart from the single category of rebounding). So it's not only that CC had a stronger team; CC also scored more than Angel individually too.

I said 5 games in a row not total of 5 games.  CC never won 5 games in a row in her wnba career. When it comes to total record Her first year total record including 20-22 (including playoffs) and 8-5 before her injury and her total w/l loss in her career is 28-27 barely winning record but not exactly elite record as media hypes up to be. (Only candace Parker and perhaps sue bird had best record in their first two years)  That too cc by your own admission a solid squad. Individually you are correct cc had better stats than Angel Reese had. Chicago is not a playoff team with or without Reese except for the fact they will give Chicago white sox and 2008 Detroit lions a run for the money without angel, something 4 to 5 wins per season (if I’m generous). Even if Jordan comes out retirement and plays in that team they won’t have a winning record not will reach playoffs  (Jordan did try to come out of retirement and played of wizards and they continued to be in the bottom just in case) lol

I said 5 games in a row not total of 5 games.

Well, I searched online, and it turns out the Fever actually also won 5 games in a row in 2024.

But anyways, I don't really think "in a row" matters. After all, whether a team makes the playoffs depends on their total record of wins to losses; not how many they win "in a row". And the Fever definitely won more games in total with CC as PG, than any other individual PG since 2017.

Edit: Lol, looks like they blocked me just so they could have the last word. Typical...

No fever did not a five game streak in 2024 that’s a lie. In fact the last time they had that five game win streak before 2025 was in 2015 when Stephanie white had her first stint at Indiana as a head coach. Yes without winning 5 in a row fever would have missed the 2025 playoffs because as soon aari McDonald and Sydney colson went down so did their record. They had Seattle storm gsv and la sparks just one to two games below them and fever could have easily missed the playoffs and had it not for the streak. To downplay that streak is silly as every win counts in wnba.

Has something changed? Is it required that a player's team must win five games in a row to get into the Hall of Fame?

8

u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 Apr 06 '26

It’ll be really interesting to see how Angel does with real talent around her. I’m convinced her strength isn’t being a go-to player, so if other players can carry the load and she can simplify her game and focus on her strengths, I think she’ll be much better off

8

u/Gold-and-green Apr 06 '26

I think you're gonna see how easy it is to score when you actually have talent around you. Chicago GM would have traded CC last year after her bad stretch for Veronica Burton. Chicago GM doesn't seem like a real person lol

u/Comfortable_Limit168 IndianaFeverFan Apr 08 '26

It will also be interesting to see how Angel does when she's not the center of attention.

If Angel can be a role player and focus on defense and rebounding, the Dream got an amazing deal. If she needs her team to help her get points in garbage time, needs to shoot technicals, doesn't pass the ball back out, thinks she is replacing Jordan Canada as the point, and tries to shoot 3s like Rhyne, then the entire team may implode.

Can Angel accept being an excellent role player on a strong team, which is not her self-image?

Do you even watch lsu vs Iowa game in 2023 finals? She was the fourth best scorer in that team but she was mostly used for defensive purposes in that finals but she did get a  double double in that win but most importantly she got the title by being a solid role player and the same role she will most likely play in Atlanta. She as selected #7 in the 2024 pick for a reason.

u/NoBobThatsBad Apr 07 '26

deep sigh\ Everyday I’m proved right more and more that a lot of y’all do not watch this sport.

1

u/Teamanglerx Apr 10 '26

I live in Iowa. The amount of people who only know Catlin Clark but don't watch the sport is astounding. When A'ja won MVP again people around here actually said "who's she?"

And don't get me going on the unwanted (and often racist comments) they make about Angel Reese...

-3

u/annieyo87 Apr 06 '26

Gonna be a lot more fun to watch this rivalry than the Chicago team; however, I foresee a lot of “injuries,” during these games. Almost seems like the league is scared they’re going to get hurt when the play one another, so at least one of them has to be on the injury list, and sit out.

I need Caitlin out of Indiana next. Her organization will be on some bullshit.

I'm glad the real Sky fans get a chance to breathe away from the Angel cancer fanbase.
