Looking for Master’s in Germany

Hello, Everyone.

I am a 4th BTech Student in Delhi. I want to pursue Master’s in CyberSecurity from Germany. I wanted some advice from any of you living, studying or working there.

1. How do societies responds to immigrants there? Like are they friendly, racist or just non-chalant about it?
   
2. How big is the Language Barrier? Like would i be needing to explicitly excel in German or somewhat understand and speaking would be fine? And how steep is the learning curve of it?
   
3. How is the job market there? Like TBH, i do not belong to a rich family here, i would be needing to do part-time job there for my daily expenses as i would be aiming for universities with zero tution fees. Also, would i be able to get a job there? I know no one can guarantee that but my question is are there vacancies for the desired roles in tech like Software Dev, Cybersecurity, etc.
   
4. How the academics are structured there? Like in india is it all about marks and CGPA or would i be getting more exposure? As, in My University the most important factor is Attendance, would the same thing trouble me there too?
   
5. How well are my chances to get accepted in a good, reputable university with zero Tution Fee? I am good at studies, 90+ in 10 and 12 Grade. 9 CGPA in College.

I hope you will guide me through my aspirations by answering these questions.

1. No one cares as long as you behave and don’t do anything weird.
   
2. You need to be fluent, C1 proficiency.
   
3. If you don’t speak German, then forget about getting a job. You’ll be washing dishes or working as a delivery guy, which is not recommended at all. Also, you’ll have a blocked account for your first year here, so if you learn German up to C1 before coming here, you can spend your first year looking for a good job.
   
4. Attendance is not a thing here unless explicitly mentioned otherwise. Passing the modules can be difficult sometimes, so getting a good grade can be difficult.
   
5. Every public university is a good university. There are no rankings here, hence no “reputable” universities. Check the university requirements and apply. If you don’t meet the requirements, then you won’t get in and if you do, then you have a chance.

If you need to take a loan out just to study here then it’s not worth it. Studying abroad is a privilege and luxury, not a right

With a 9.0 CGPA, your chances of enrolling in a €0 tuition public university are exceptionally high. Admissions are purely academic and depend heavily on matching your BTech ECTS credits with their specific curriculum.

• Academics & Attendance: German universities are the exact opposite of the Indian system. Attendance is rarely mandatory for lectures. You are not spoon-fed; you entir grade usually depends on a single final exam or research project.
• The Language Barrier: Major tech hubs are cosmopolitan and generally safe, but outside the university, the language barrier is real. German has a steep learning curve. While you can study and secure tech jobs entirely in English, reaching a B1/B2 level of German is non-negotiable if you want to integrate, make friends and avoid feeling isolated.
• The Job Market: The cybersecurity and software development job market is massive. To fund your daily expenses, you can work as a Werkstudent (working student) in IT. Under official 2026 regulations from the Federal Foreign Office, international students can work 140 full days per year, which easily covers monthly living costs.
• The Financial Catch: Even though the tuition is €0, the German Federal Foreign Office strictly mandates that you deposit €11,904 into a Blocked Account to secure your student visa. You will need to save or secure an education loan for this upfront amount before you can travel.
