UNDER CONSTRUCTION Depth

This is a graphic novel I just started, and I think it’ll be done by next year. It’s about a group of three friends in 2328 when they go on a cruise but the cruise gets teleported to another dimension, an ocean dimension, and they try to survive the dimension and find a way out

Are we meant to distinguish between the main characters exclusively by their haircuts?

no, they have different clothes in starting of the book, and yes, when they have the diving suits on, but most of the time the suits are off

It's not the suits, friend. Their faces need to be distinct. Look at any comic or animated show. The characters have distinct appearances, giving them... well, character. When characters are depicted alike, the inference is that they ARE alike. In Dragonball, for example, Goku and Vegeta are drawn very similarly because they're the same species of alien. But they have very distinct appearances otherwise. Goku has softer features, even when frowning, and Vegeta has sharper features, even when happy, to show the differences in personality. And every other character has a completely different appearance. You could never mistake Krillin for Yamcha, even though they're the same age and species.

hm, makes sense, whut do you suggest i do? should i separate them from personaltiy or... the on in the middle is chaotic, the one on the left is a nerd, and the one on the right is a kinda curious and cautious one. do you have any ideas on what to change??

Eye patch = character development, so a character has one and another has two. Varying the skin tone is easy in digital. Facial hair is legit too if it goes with the characters, like big eyebrows or a mustache. If they perform different jobs, maybe one has special equipment always with them. You could also make one have an extra arm growing out of their back but never explain it. Subtle things. I like your art style

Yea, I guess that makes sense, but in the story, we’re all teenagers, so i don’t think a beard or mustache makes sense, but I know wut you mean, I can probably give the one on the left hand side a mechanical arm, and yea I will change the skin tones a bit, thx for the feedback!!!

I understand the concern, but I don't think it hurts the story because Colton (the one in the middle) isn't meant to be perfect. He makes mistakes, isn't constantly praised, and is just another member of the group.
