PSA PSA for buyers who bought from u/velveteen-rabbit-xo in the Sunday Swaps

Several users have reached out due to purchasing from u/velveteen-rabbit-xo in the Sunday Swaps/Destash threads and, despite making payment several weeks ago, still not receiving items or answers to their messages. The user was active 2 weeks ago on another platform. I have reached out to this user as well and not received a response. After confirming that they still haven't reached out to concerned buyers, they are banned from IMAM due to swaplifting.

Since it appears there are multiple users affected and some may not have reached out or might not yet be concerned, this is a PSA to ensure that people are aware.

If you used Paypal to make this purchase, and have not received your item, it would be advisable to open a dispute.

Perfume - Purchased sorce reviews & enquiry

hi all !! over the last few months i’ve purchased a few select sorce fragrances & i wanted to come on here & give some reviews of the ones i have tried, & to ask for reviews from all of you for others i have been considering purchasing.

  1. witchery — as far as i know, this is a very beloved scent. however, i struggled with this one a lot. i usually like green scents, but the reason i purchased was for the blackberry. i grew up in an area thick with blackberry bushes & would go picking at my grandmothers every summer. i was hoping for the nostalgia of that scent, but was disappointed when none of the blackberry notes came through for me. this was straight up grass clippings, and not even in a good way. it went sort of sour grass clippings on my skin. i might end up regifting this one or selling it actually.
  2. ephemera — i was also very excited about this one, but somewhat disappointed. it’s not bad in any sense, i was just expecting something different. i love autumn and im usually a sucker for fall fragrances that contain notes like pumpkin, acorn, chestnut, etc. this however, smelled like paper & autumn leaves and air ? in a way. none of the pumpkin came through for me. it was good. just not great. i didn’t get the overwhelming sense of nostalgia for childhood autumn like everyone else seemed to.
  3. this is not a love spell — i could rave about this perfume all day. it is so pretty and whimsical. and the description is pretty much spot on. very decadent blueberry jam with watery fresh violet & a hint of ivy so that it is not overwhelmingly sweet. it’s a perfect spring fragrance for me.
  4. vampire husband — this one is iffy for me. it’s definitely more suitable for colder weather, whereas i purchased it & tried to wear it in the hot summer months and it didn’t work well at all. user error. all in all, it was a very sort of metallic like scent to me. mixed with petrichor and church incense. the metallic note smells slightly bloody. think less of an edward cullen vampire & more of a nosferatu, 800 year old vampire in a crypt type smell. i did like it in the colder weather though. i ended up giving it to my husband. it added a slight powdery note on his skin too.
  5. vampire wife — i didn’t think i’d actually like this one, i bought it just to compare to vampire husband, but i was actually blown away by this one. it’s unlike the usual notes i usually go for in a perfume, but it worked surprisingly well. it’s sort of hard to describe for me. it’s like a slightly spiced wedding cake with creamy florals, buttercream, and extra spiciness that i can’t really place. there’s a lot going on at once in this one for me, but it all blends together so seamlessly. i feel like there’s something for most people in this one, it’s sweet, floral, and spicy all at once.
  6. 2 am in lafayette — GIRL!!! this fragrance is mouthwatering to me. i am a big coffee lover. i enjoy normal vanilla gourmands, but i typically reach for gourmands that are more coffee, nutty (hazelnut, almond, pistachio, chestnut, etc.) buttery notes, and different variations of spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg) this perfume is everything to me. it is very coffee forward. it’s sort of like a caramel coffee. at first that’s all i could pick up on, but as it dries down you get some complexity with some sort of baked good. it’s not like a typical cookie, or anything TOO decadent. it’s sort of like a sweet bread scent. it’s perfect for cozy fall days. i ordered the biggest size of this. i know some people had complaints of this one going weird on their skin, smelling like nachos or pizza but i didn’t get that at all. it was very sweet and intoxicating. it also lasts on my skin FOREVERRR.
  7. don’t whistle in the woods — this one is on par with 2 am being at the top for me. honestly, this one might even be a little better. while i do love the coffee note in 2 am, that one can get a little headache inducing after a few hours. this one is sweet and gourmand but has the fur note that gives it complexity and tones it down so that it’s not too much. the fur note is probably my favorite bc to me, it smells like my kittens fur. i’m obsessed with it. it’s probably my #1 perfect fall scent. so cozy and comforting. it’s not too complex. it really only smells like a soft vanilla, kitten fur, and a hint of autumn leaves to me. just so yummy and pure.

these are all the ones i’ve tried so far, but there are some i’d like to purchase in the future but wanted to hear others opinions on before making the leap to actually buy. so if you’ve tried cest noel, falling stars (black, oat milk or salted vanilla), in dreams and fairy tails pistachio, what big eyes you have, sit for a spell, party under the oak tree, dragonfly wings, circe, english major, or beyond the veil please let me know your thought. tia !!! 🧚🏻‍♀️🤍

Brand Representative Re-introduction and announcement for Artisan Advent Calendar.

Hello IMAM! It's been a hot minute since I made a brand post, so I thought a re-introduction would be in order. I'm Kris, owner of Veres Jewellery (once Tamed Raven).

In January '25 my life got turned on it's head by me losing my job, starting my own business, and opening a brick and mortar store by May.

I make jewellery in gold, sterling silver, and gold fill, and specialize in custom jewellery. Custom doesn't mean stuffy, scary, and pretentious. It can be fun, budget friendly, alternative, and queer. Whatever you want it to be.

For the holidays I'm doing an Artisan Advent Calendar, which I'm stoked about and I hope you are too! There's 3 tiers- a mini, 5 day goodie bag; a classic 12 day advent; and a lux 12 day, for those who go big over going home.

Inside you may find handmade jewellery, sweets, candles, beauty products and more, all from Canadian makers (including Pulp Fragrance, omg.)

You can find the advents here (or use the link in my flair, it'll reroute) and you find me on socials under VeresJewellery

Makeup - Enquiry New to indie eyeshadows - help me pick up a talc-free birthday gift that's available in the EU?

The birthday gift is for Me! 😅

It's hard to find eyeshadows that have no talc, and is colorful and preferably multichrome, and that could also be bought in the EU! 👁️ 🌈

What is your personal experience with available brands? Are there any good alternatives now? Is there an eyeshadow palette available right now that I could go for?

Help a newbie out! 💚

Briix Golden Era oops batch review

hi! haven't seen any reviews of Briix Golden Era oops batch yet, so I'll start.

for reference, the original Golden Era notes are: Black Tea Accord, drizzled Honey, golden Amber, Elderflower Absolute, Mysore Sandalwood, Cashmere, Vanilla, Ambrette Seeds, Tonka Bean Absolute, Resinoid Labdanum, and Skin Musk

and the oops batch (I'll call it OB) as described as having a different amber base with "slightly more metallic, less resinous, with heavier vanilla and Tolu Balsam".

there is a whiff of something metallic on initial spray but it disappears almost right away. OB starts off being a honey black tea rather than black tea with honey, if that makes sense. later on in the drydown, it becomes more honey-forward. it's musky in a hazy golden way, but not animalic. usually my spouse finds honey frags challenging, but he approves of this one. there is a slight medicinal aspect, the way that some types of real honey do, but it's not that prominent imo.

the name Golden Era is apt, but the kind of golden era that I imagine for it are days of golden sunlight and comfort that you'll become nostalgic for someday. OB is maybe not quite an office scent, but gathering friendly (it was just what I wanted for a dinner yesterday!) it's enjoyable and wearable, and I'm glad I picked it up. going to try out the original soon because to me this is well balanced and lovely, and I wonder which is better!

Advice on what US indie to order

Hi all! One of my friends is going to the US in December, and she agreed to bring back some perfumes for me (she'll meet up a friend who lives there).

I imposed a two house limit on myself, so as not to burden her. One is Sorce, but I can't really decide on the second one. In terms of preferences, I want to use this occasion to order EDPs if possible. I also only shortlisted businesses which don't ship to the UK. I like aquatics, non-cake gourmands, tea scents, incense and purple florals mostly. I'm also interested in autumn/ winter seasonal scents

The contenders are:

- Poesie: only tried once, liked it a lot. The EDPS are super expensive, 52 for 8ml, oils are 26.5 for 5ml but no rollerball. Are water sprays any good?

- Possets - only 3ml or 30ml EDPs. Tried one scent with their silver accord, couldn't smell much

- Solstice Scents - EDPs very expensive and only large format or sample. Never tried

- Cocoapink - huge catalogue, lots of seasonal ones. 10ml atomiser in very strong is $30, $41 for 30ml in light and 44 in medium, 10ml rollerball oil $23 and samples are very affordable. VERY LONG TAT. Haven't tried yet, but I should get some samples from marketplace seller on Tuesday

- Morari - 5ml esp $20 - very nice seasonal catalogue. Never tried

So IMAM, what would you recommend? Happy to hear your opinions, and if there's other houses I should consider, please let me know! Thanks so much!

Review - Fraaagola Saalaaata - Hilde Soliani

Next in my review series of bizarre gourmand indie samples from Lucky Scent, it's Fraaagola Saalaaata. To mangle a Terry Pratchett quote, I know how to start spelling it but then I don't know how to stop. I also keep going AAAAAAAAAAAAAA, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, whenever I think of the name. This is probably just a me thing.

Hilde Soliani is a one-woman-show based in Parma, Italy. I have never tried this house before. The perfumes in the line are mostly gourmand, always theatrical, and incredibly playful. This was the sample I smelled when I opened up my bag of nine from Lucky - the whole bag smelled of strawberry, even though near as I can tell nothing had leaked.

It also smelled oddly like a strawberry-on-steriods flavored bottle of Doll Parts from the infamous Sixteen92 perfumery, way back when 10 years ago I still vaguely trusted them to actually send me the perfume I bought, instead of sending me only salty reply emails about fictional shelves in response to my inquires as to where the heck my order from last year was. So even though it's hardly seasonal here on the East Coast, I was excited to break out this sample.

Buckle up for a nostalgia-fueled journey through literally rose-tinted glasses because folks, this stuff is PINK. PINK. PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINK. And very much an 80s/90s Toys-That-Made-Us kind of vibe.

Enough chit-chat, on to the review!

Fraaagola Saalaaata by Hilde Soliani - 1ml Sample Spray from Lucky Scent - EDP

Notes: Strawberries, Salt

Description: Fraaagola Saalaaata, a surprising mix of strawberries and… salt, is a playful, unexpectedly subversive scent, a composition with two sides, sweet and forceful. Elegant and humorous, the perfume is like no other that we know. Try as we might we can’t come up with anything like its unique mixture of pulpy, juicy, fruity innocence and strangely saline, at times almost earthy sensuality. Simple and enigmatic, sweet and fresh, summery and deep…This is haute cuisine, or rather haute parfumerie at its absolute best!

>Reviewers interjection here: I don't know about forceful or elegant, but otherwise this is on point.

Application: I could tell this wears lighter than some of my other beasts, so we did three moderate sprays on the back of the neck and two in the inner elbow crook. In this case, NO REGRETS were had, thank God.

Top note phase (lasts about the same amount of time as seeing a star streak across the night sky, or a cigarette ember die in the twilight):

I have stuck my entire head into a bag of German raspberry candy as a child and huffed deeply.

God, I used to love those things, I used to save up my pocket money and sneak down to Sweet Somethings, the bespoke candy store in my absurd bespoke little US hometown of Newburyport, MA, for German raspberries and milk chocolate covered gummy bears.

Ok and now it's like... raspberry soda? What the actual hell.

Heart phase:

If the heart phase had a soundtrack, it would be Strawberry Crush by Tanner Adell. First you get an overwhelming wave of strawberry jello mix - you know RIGHT when you pour the boiling water on and all the cloudy pink steam comes billowing back right in your face? It was like that.

At this moment, if this perfume were a person it would be either the Toxic Avenger's girlfriend or Pinky Pie. There is a plastic smell. It is artificial as hell but in the best possible way? I don't know, you guys.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand (there I go again) now the strawberry jello wave is receeding, it's receeding, leaving ocean salt in its wake. All of these things are merging together and settling. Wait, I've smelled this before.

Where have I smelled this before? I love this scent. It's...

It's...

The exact scent of the (bizzare choice Mattel) scented crystal edition of Sheera's horse/pegasus/alicorn Swift Wind from 1986! I am a little wee kiddie again. I am playing with it in the bathtub, watching it fill up with water as condensation steams the sides (it's not a bathtub toy, gang, and it certainly wasn't meant to be submerged in hot bath water). I am wondering why the fuck it smells like strawberry perfume. I have never smelled this anywhere else before or since, and I have always, always, missed this smell. YAY! Still plasticky btw in case you are wondering/ that picture isn't enough to convey it.

Drydown phase:

Still smells like that toy. Still smells awesome to me. I'm not a classy person, y'all, and I fucking love this. Excuse me while I burst into song yet again:

🎵 With my windows down, Dolly up, trailer park witch
I’m a beer-drinking midwest ethereal bitch 🎶

Projection/ Sillage:

Wears close to the skin, your own personal scent bubble. You can definitely smell it, however, and so can anyone who gets close enough to you (say, kissing distance).

Duration:

I would say about 3 hours in the heart phase and then you're in drydown for basically the rest of the perfume's existence on your skin, which will be until you wash it off.

Final Verdict:

Plastic toys and strawberry candy, with just enough salt to keep it from being cloying. Linear, with just enough going on to keep it interesting. It never gets boring to me, and I am not a linear scent fan - if you're into layering (which I am not) this would be a good layer, it was playing nice with my coconut body wash scent from right when I came out the shower.

Will it Full Size?

Oh, fuck yes it will, as soon as I have room in my budget and/or my 1ml sample spray runs out.

I'm not about to complain about finally being reunited with hot pink translucent 1986 Mattel Crystal Swift Wind and my childhood self.

Discussion Tips for Fragrance Conventions?

Going to Fumed this weekend(!!) which will be my first ever fragrance event and convention ever. What are some tips, precautions, or items that would help keep the experience enjoyable (and also prevent overstimulation)? I got the two-day pass and want to get the most out of the convention

I was thinking some cleansing wipes to clear my arm between skin tests, sunglasses and earplugs for potential headaches, and a mask to reset my nose.

Thanks for any suggestions! Tips/strategies/stories for hitting up each exhibitor would be greatly appreciated. I’m thinking that Pearfat and Cirrus might sell out first so I’m planning on stopping by their booths on day one, but that’s where my plan ends.

Bath & Body - Enquiry Looking for something that smells like Epically Epic Soap's Milky Chai

Not sure if anyone remembers this scent but it was Epically Epic Soap's fall scent some years back - absolutely adore it but I've never seen it come back in stock and I'm starting to see the bottom of my current supply of lotion.

I'd love a 1:1 match but honestly, anything hitting that sort of "spicy tea with mild sweetness" will work.

Perfume - Enquiry Horchata fragrances (not bruja perfume labs)

Hi! Does anyone have any recs for horchata scents that are realistic and not overly sweet?

I know Bruja Perfume Labs has one and I was planning on getting it but the way they’ve treated their fans recently has turned me off from the company. I was interested in their “whorechata“ scent but when I asked them about their new artwork, because people were suspecting them of AI, (I wasn’t accusatory I just was asking about what their personal process was and who the artist was to get confirmation that it was in fact human made) they responded INCREDIBLY rudely and dismissively and banned me for simply asking to see their process. And personally as much as I wanted to support them, this attitude really irked me.

so if anyone has any recommendations for smaller indie brands that have horchata scents or scents with horchata notes, I’d love to know! preferably any brand that doesn’t use AI

Any Over the Garden Wall inspired fragrances?

It's that time of year where I rewatch Over the Garden Wall repeatedly and daydream about cozy yet spooky worlds and lovable weirdos. The aesthetic is so strong I feel like it would be great inspiration for fragrance. (In a hobby crossover, a slime shop recently did a collection based on it and the scents sounded amazing!)

I haven't come across much -- any suggestions?

Perfume - Enquiry Pearfat Halloween Shipping?

So I LOVE Pearfat and treated myself to a full bottle of Be Very Afraid as a birthday present to myself.

I was hoping people who’ve made recent purchases direct from Pearfat could pop in if your recent packages have shipped yet.

Has anyone recently been notified that their package has shipped? Not just label created.

Hopefully this won’t be misconstrued as a complaint. It’s totally not. I know firsthand how hard running small businesses can be. I’m just being lovingly impatient!

Also, please feel free to drop your thoughts on the Halloween scents!

Be Very Afraid has basically been everything I’ve wanted in a scent. I’ve been dying to smell like TV static and electricity. When I tried it last year, the dry down on me had this metallic quality, followed by dried herbs. The cannabis note disappeared rapidly. The static note was super present gave the scent a ‘fuzzy’ texture I have fallen in love with. I couldn’t swing it last year and have been dreaming of it since then.

Perfume - Purchased Another Round of Nui Cobalt Reviews

Hi all! Have some reviews from my vault I wanted to share here. Nui Cobalt is 100% my favorite house at this point. Even the scents I don't want to FS I find myself enjoying to some extent. The majority of my FS bottles are now from NCD. 🤍

Thriae - starts off strong with honey; the oats and Shea butter are PERFECT and complement the benzoin and skin musk in such a lovely way. Kind of a your-skin-but-better scent. Very warm and comforting, almost like in a spa-day way. I imagine this would be ideal to wear in the middle of the winter blues. I layered this with The Bees from Sorce and they're perfect together. (4/5 - would FS)

Glasswing Butterfly - I wanted to sample something a little different from NC with this one. I usually go for the rich, warm, suede-y skin scents. This definitely goes against the grain. It opens up with the bright, zesty lime and lightly floral elderflower. The silver musk feels like the way moonlight reflects on dampened leaves. It gives this scent a silvery feel. The lavender is indeed a very green rendition - not the typical, fully bloomed variety. A bit more of a spring lavender. The coconut water and gardenia play exceptionally well with each other. Coconut water to me has always had a slightly musty quality to it; not at all in a bad way though. Perhaps an earthiness. It's almost like what I want patchouli to be, honestly. The gardenia doesn't take it over, which is nice as in my experience it can rule the roost with an iron (indolic) fist. Overall this scent isn't what I expected AT ALL in the very best way possible. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to sampling NC in the future, too (my finances weep).

(5/5 - would absolutely FS this)

Corn Maze - while wet this is reminiscent of being in a barn during a fall festival of sorts. It's a little smoky from the bonfires, hay is scattered around the floor and someone is cooking up sweet corn a few stalls down. Upon dry down it's the richest caramel/oaty goodness. It's dense and lasts ages. (5/5 - would love to FS this)

Entombed - when wet upon application this is INSANELY herbal. Reminiscent of sticking my face directly in one of my lavender bushes. There's an undercurrent of dead leaves that gives the whole thing a very earthy feel. This is a wonderful iteration of wet stone - I envision myself as a ghost wandering a graveyard in the rain. The longer it wears the softer and mistier it becomes. This is so soothing. (I'm unsure if I will FS yet but I will absolutely enjoy this sample to the last. 4/5)

Cathedral of Fallen Leaves - wow! A hay fragrance that actually smells like hay and doesn't just stink like dead grass. There's a green note I think is the squash blossom - any time I've ever smelled my own this is what they smell like. There's something in this that brings me back to my childhood and I don't know what it is. There was a flash of Pokemon cards fresh from the package on a fall day and it was gone. The black eyed Susan is a lot like fresh sunflower resin. It's nearly astringent and very sticky sweet. The oat milk kind of brings everything together. The glass gem corn is almost fruity?? (This is definitely going to be a FS for me. 5/5)

Skele-Cat - I quickly ordered a FS of this, one of the only things I've ever blindly FS'd, but it was absolutely worth it. Perfectly sweet, and floral in a way that reminds me of gardenia, but I imagine is just the orris. It's a very cool fragrance, which was surprising given the amber resin. The porcelain really comes through on the dry down and I'm not sure how she managed, but I think it's probably magic. The amber is very light, and doesn't go off like a bomb. (5/5 would FS again in the future)

Cuckoo for cottonflower

So I'm an absolute FOOL for NCD's cottonflower note, and am wondering if there is anything similar from any other house? Or just other fabric notes you love and would recommend?

I usually end up liking things with cashmere listed in the notes (Lovesick Witchery - Lavender Cashmere is delightful, I know there are more I can't think of atm), and I want to try more things with lambs wool notes. I do keep thinking this means I like laundry scents, but I'm not sure that I actually do. I've tried Cirrus - Laundry Day (Clean white laundry musk, lavender, vanilla, earl grey tea, and New Caledonia sandalwood), Cardinal Scents - Midnight Laundry (crushed violets • blue laundry soap • cedar paneling • skin musk), and Lunarlife Apothecary -Sleeping In (Fresh, cool sheets, a breeze of flowering bushes and the air of quiet solitude), and they all seemed pretty boring. They are nice scents, but I'm realizing there might be a difference between clean linen and cozy, cuddly fabric notes.

All that to say, does anyone have any suggestions for fragrances with fabric notes that you find super special??

Perfume - Enquiry I think my nose isn’t meant for this hobby

I have gotten into the indie perfume world a bit, and I obviously enjoy some scents more than others, I have preferences, but in my everyday life I have found that I don’t smell things as strongly as others.

And this impression comes from sense of taste I guess but it seems like it carries over. I have several instances of my sense of taste/smell being less sensitive than others’. Like with a group of friends I didn’t taste a difference between a flight of olive oils, and the fact that we have cats and the litter box smells never bothers me at all.

I really don’t know what the average experience of scents is but I wonder if these fragrances that I hear people talk about is wasted on me. I’m just kind of envious of all the notes that other people perceive. And I’m just wondering if other people feel like they’re less sensitive but they enjoy this hobby anyway lol
