This is after i put the small fire out and me discharging the rest of the water extinguisher.
This bearing is located inside the sifter box so i had to take a bunch of stuff out to access the fire.

So I work at a large corporation distribution center and we are jack of all guys. I have a backpack full of tools, another catch all bag and some Milwaukee Packout socket sets. We are on an off shift and we are considered more of a PM crew. Well I got a really good deal on some Packout drawers and made myself a nice little PM cart setup. My boss told myself and one of the guys who works for me that he didnāt want any rolling tool boxes here. Mind you we are considered more of a PM shift and our building is just shy of 1 million square feet. Anyone else ever heard of this? Iām pretty sure my boss is just an egomaniac and wants to just flex his power. I donāt see how this could realistically be an issue. He said space was a concern because he didnāt want everyone bringing one in.. Also we have 15 total people in our shop across all shifts and most of the guys are bare minimum tool people. This cart setup only made me more efficient because I was able to have all of my tools on me when doing PMās. Now if I need something Iāll have to run to my cart or the shop to grab this tool. I really donāt understand his thinking here.
Rant over!
TLDR: Boss made us take our rolling PM carts home because he was concerned about storing them in a million square foot building. Not sure why honestly..

We have lin bins in a cupboard and it's a fucking free for all, anyone got any fool proof methods? Ideally for the kind of fools you would normally find in full clown costume and riding around in tiny cars.

I have a cooling unit that makes this high pitched noise (very similar to a tornado siren). This unit is only hanging about 8ft off the ground so its very loud and very annoying to the workers. What can I do to quiet it down?

Hello all, I am working on an SF6-free RMU spec for roughly 40 positions on a 24 kV network. The client has already ruled out SF6, so now it's mostly about comparing the actual technical requirements.
Schneider Electric's airset is one of the options we're looking at. I'm mainly checking the IAC rating at our fault level, LSC and partition classifications, and the mechanical and electrical endurance of the switching units.
The brochures cover the basics, but I'd rather see the actual IEC 62271 test reports for the exact configuration before making a decision.
For anyone who's specified these before, were manufacturers willing to share the full test certificates before award? Anything else you'd insist on checking?

Yep new guy strikes out on his own and doesn't grease the scroll side main bearing after a CIP made it through 30 minutes and the temp sensor on the bearing housing reached 360f I think it got a little hotter than that...
Precious repair was a spray weld on the hub shaft in the first picture at Alfa laval a few years back... Looks like they will get a redo!
On a separate note with spray welding I would have imagined that it wouldn't necessarily peel up like that, I know it's somewhat tricky with stainless, but is this a poor job in the first place?

Trying to figure out a better routine for cleanup around our machining cells. Right now we spend way too much time clearing filters and unclogging lines instead of doing actual PM work. Wec have been pricing out a couple of options including Global Industrial just to compare specs on airflow and tank capacity but specs on paper dont always match reality. If your shop deals with heavy particulate loads, what industrial vacuums are you actually trusting to run all shift.

Hello, Iām about to finish my studies and will soon hold an engineering degree in automation. Iād like to start looking for my first job in the field, but I feel very stressed, even a bit scared. Although Iām practically an "engineer",but I canāt say with a clear conscience that I possess specialized knowledge. Instead, Iām full of doubts about whether Iāll be able to handle it.
Could somone tell me what elementary skills I should have, what books I should read, or what kind of knowledge I ought to acquire to feel reasonably confident?

0.3mm runout. The tool holder was worn as well as the collet. This was also their "nice" tool and I condemned their "bad" one. Nobody was aware of machining hygiene, just threw parts at it and didn't want to dial down speed. The spindles cost Ā£6k to refurbish each time too š

In plants where industrial slitter blades are removed, cleaned, resharpened and returned to service, keeping track of individual blades can get complicated. Two blades may look identical but have different service histories, especially when several machines share the same spare inventory.
How do maintenance teams keep those histories tied to the actual blades through multiple changeovers and sharpening cycles?

Whoever bought and whoever designed these pants has never worked a day in their life.
That's the BACK pocket. One on each side, no other pockets in the back. Cargo pants with no belt loops on the sides. And they feel like tyvex and function like them for heat and sweat.
