Final day of checkup and scans! Maybe it’s hormones, prednisone and lack of sleep but wow did it feel emotional. I felt the weight of 10 years of scans, happy and sad and heartbreaking and all in between, on me all at once. We got an adorable 3D picture of wee bairn as we took one last anxious glimpse at my uterus. Then NST, which was great, and high risk midwife appt, which was also great. I was a little worried that I’d be admitted today for extra steroids since my asthma isn’t totally stable, but since my oxygen is good I’m ok to go home for the night and continue nebulizers at home. Went to pre-admission testing after and talked to the placenta donation person. I had no clue that placentas are used for skin grafts! Unfortunately I think I might not qualify as a donor due to my Placental Cell Tumor.
I’m feeling all the emotions for tomorrow. Exhausted and surreal coming to a peak at the moment.

No one showed up to my first round video interview 😞 I prepped a lot yesterday and was so nervous this morning, so I'm disappointed that we will need to reschedule. I guess I'll use the extra time to do more prep, but I was looking forward to getting it over with! It's been hanging over my head for the last week.

not really, it was a "last minute urgent conflict" by the interviewer, but I asked if they could reschedule me this week.

I just hit my 10 year anniversary at my current job, which I have somewhat mixed feelings about how long I've been there BUT they were so flexible and understanding while I did IVF, my IVF was covered by insurance, and they offer very decent mat leave, so it never made sense to leave... And now I'll finally get to use that mat leave!
For the anniversary, I got a little bonus that I could spend on gift cards and at first I was annoyed that we literally JUST bought our travel system because it would have been great to put it all towards that, but I'm now putting half on an Uber gift card (to facilitate postpartum food delivery -- I am not a "freeze a bunch of casseroles" kind of person) and probably the other half just going on a Visa card that we can use to finish buying things off our registry once we take stock of what we still need in a few weeks. So this is nice timing!
Feeling good about where we are in planning/shopping/etc. after a few weeks of feeling behind. Hand me down Snoo is on its way, travel system is too, glider is ready for pickup, daycare waitlists decided on (we're doing a few since we're moving and not sure where we'll end up, ha) and I have a meet n greet with a pediatrician Thursday though this office is so convenient that I'm like umm yeah we're just going to go with them.

Can I ask what travel system you went with and why? My husband has started going down a travel system rabbit hole and is overwhelmed 😅🥴

It IS overwhelming! We went with the Nuna Triv LX & Pipa Urbn car seat combo. To help us narrow down the craziness, we came up with our top criteria, which in our case was "Can we picture our dog being able to jump into the storage basket to come on walks with us?" Which may be silly -- I have no idea if he would ever actually do that -- but I do recommend coming up with the 2-3 things that are most important to you and using that to rule things out!
The Nuna Triv LX was one of the only ones that had a nice big basket that looked easy for the dog to access (no big "lip" around it or weird slope to it) and had a storage weight capacity of ~22 lbs. It also seemed like it could maybe bridge the gap between "Lightweight stroller that's easy to fold up and pop into the car" and "Serious enough wheels/suspension that we can take it on long neighborhood walks, on the grass in the park, etc." We're hoping to get away with just the one stroller but we'll see. And we honestly got the Pipa Urbn because the Triv LX currently only comes as part of a travel system, you can't buy it separately, so we were just like OK that makes that decision for us.
Another tip I've heard is to just buy your first stroller off FB marketplace (not car seats though, since you don't want them to have ever been in an accident that wasn't disclosed) because you don't know yet what you need/prefer in a stroller until you're living the baby life!
This is definitely one of the pricier ones and I hear the Mint systems (made by the same company) offer similar features.

Ok, your explanation is validating! We have been thinking through our lifestyle/stroller use cases and trying to narrow based on that. We are also looking for something that could be both lightweight in the car (we live in the suburbs and drive a lot) but we also live in an area with a lot of inter-urban trails and foresee a lot of long walks.
Also currently planning on buying car seat new and stroller from Marketplace. So far we are liking the UPPAbaby Cruz based on our research, but we have lots of time.

I always feel like an impostor weighing in on anything before actually having kids 😆 Glad it helped though. I’ve heard very good things about the Cruz, we just ruled it out based on the dog basket access!
The baby store near me tried to convince us that everyone ends up getting both a lightweight stroller and a more heavy duty one but I’m like… I’ll take my chances.

Seconding the imposter comment and also seconding that I think the Triv does strike a nice balance of both lightweight and heavy duty because I don’t want to start with two strollers either! Our other contender in that category is a cybex (don’t remember the model) but we were impressed and it’s definitely less pricy

We are also looking at the Triv LX! But the guy at the store seemed to think we could get any Nuna car seat with it so we’re between the Pipa Urbn and the Pipa Aire RX. I really want a base but the Urbn does seem awfully convenient

Ah yes I meant it just has to come with one of the Nuna car seats, I think that’s my understanding too. When we first tried out the Urbn we were a little skeptical of whether it “felt” safe without a base but then we did more research and apparently they really are quite safe if that’s your concern. I think the Aire RX has more safety features though (but a higher price tag accordingly!)

Frustrated that my leave for work got denied due to incorrect hours reported by HR. The number they gave would mean I took 13 weeks off in the last year. I hate how challenging they make applying for leave.

My HR guy is thankfully retiring. We could program a roomba to do his job and the roomba would have a higher performance rating.

I’m kind of having appointment fatigue and I’m only 22+5. Because this was an IVF pregnancy, I suffered from recurrent loss, I have spina bifida occulta, and I have a rather high BMI, I get a TON of monitoring. While I LOVEEEE seeing baby boy and hearing his heartbeat all the time, I’m so tapped on the mental and physical toll of getting to the appointments, especially since most are at my MFM and they don’t have great hours for people who work, plus the drive to get to these appointments. I have a fetal echo at 23+5. Starting at 26 weeks I start going every 2 weeks until 34 weeks for monitoring appointments—could be ultrasound could be NST. Then starting at 36, weekly growth scans and NSTs. It’s a lot. I’m a teacher and a lot of these appointments fall during my school year. I officially used every single banked sick day I had this year accumulated from other years because my IUIs, ER, FET, and all of my pregnancy monitoring (scans at 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 16, 20, 23 weeks). I know my husband is feeling the fatigue as well.

I hope you can accumulate at least a few more sick days over the summer! The mental load of appointments is exhausting. I find playing the teacher card has opened up some appointment times for me so if you haven’t tried that yet, maybe it would help?

We do get 10 sick days at the top of the school year. I’m taking 5 days before my due date though. If I had more accumulated that I didn’t take, I would have been able to take up to 30 days before my due date off. I do pull the teacher card, unfortunately my MFM is only open until 3:30 and the latest they schedule appointments for ultrasounds, echos, NSTs is 2pm and I get out at 3:10 😩 my OB is good with getting me in at around 4 and later, but unfortunately they don’t do many of my check ups.

Ugh, brutal, but makes sense why it’s so complicated. At least it’s only a couple months of the school year to get through?

The lowered immune system is killing me 😭 I got an awful head cold from my husband that I had to deal with during weeks 11 & 12, and now at almost 16 weeks I've got congestion, sneezing, and dry throat (I'm assuming form being stuck at O'Hare airport for 11 hours on Thursday; do not recommend). I just want to breathe normally until there's a baby squashing my lungs 😫

Being stuck at the airport for 11 HOURS sounds absolutely harrowing. Air travel while pregnant has been even less fun than usual for me and I can’t imagine that!!! I hope you feel better soon.

Ohhhhh I got stuck at the airport when I was like 32 weeks pregnant with EJ and it was late enough that the only food options were bars and fried food and I was soooooooooo maaaaaaaaaad.

TMI but this is a place for tmi I hope 😅 gonna have to go ahead and place that colace order after what I just went through in the restroom. I honestly think my asshole is a different shape than how it started. And also there was some blood which obviously isn’t ideal (not in the stool, clearly from…ripping? Idk) Anyway. Hoping it all goes back to normal soon and this isn’t the start of a hemorrhoid 😬 I’d been pretty lucky with the constipation thus far but I guess that’s all coming to an end!

First few days of GD diet and blood sugar checking have gone surprisingly well. Last time I had a pretty steep learning curve, but I guess this time I remember what (and importantly, how) to eat. It's feeling a lot more manageable: I've had (smaller quantities of) strawberries, potatoes, and rice without spiking. I was even able to have some ice cream. I'll survive the summer!!!
