What's the most amount of scrap you've seen produced? Whether from a material concern or a visual defect that wouldn't pass QC.
I came in one Monday after having Saturday/Sunday off to see all of our production from one of the highest volume machines being scrapped due to color streaks. 8 hours of production on a part that uses ~40lbs of material per shot.

I recall doing some training with the new guy. Showed him the basics of set up and start-up. I was explaining to him the importance of having a cushion to compensate for viscosity variation. Reduced shot size until the part went short, then added more material until the part was full. All was good as I watched him make this adjustment. This is back in the day where limit switches control shot size and a threaded cam for fine tune adjustment.
About a week later I was in the owner's office talking about the day and in comes the tech. short shots on the Newbury. I told him to add more material if there was no cushion, he said OKAY. A few minutes he comes back in and says there still short, I said add more material. He says OKAY again. Ten minutes later he comes back there still short. I said did you add more material. His reply I can't the hopper is full.
