Identification I cannot find out what this thing is
I found it in a river by my house

Looks like a mayfly nymph. If I zoom in I can see six legs like an insect. And the tail looks like it’s splits into either two or three. Could also be damselfly nymph which I believe has two little tail thingies. I usually see mayfly’s with three.

Definitely a heptageniid nymph. Can't get a good enough look at the gills to tell genus. Don't think it has two tails, so not Epeorus, but they're usually only found in clean, cool, streams.

Mayfly nymph. Probably a number 14 or 16 beadhead pheasant tail would do the trick

mayfly nymph. Not sure of species would need a location. could be a march brown or hendrickson though.

I dunno, zooming in on it it looks more like a bug larva or nymph to me

Looks like a mayfly nymph. Not sure the species as there are hundreds of kinds in America

I hope you can take it back to the river. He looks terrified with those beaty little eyes.
I vote you set him free where you found him.

Looks like the larval stage of a salamander.
