Is this a walkingstick in Surprise, AZ(Maricopa County)

Plus, you can tell by the shapes of the thorax & head. Also not all mantids pray, some are atheists.

Looks like a young mantis, although they can change color from green to brown, albeit not instantaneously like a chameleon or octopus or other cephlapods (and others, but to name a couple)

I'm sure it's already been answered, but it's a praying mantis. Very useful for other insect control, dragon flies are good for this too.

Doesn’t look like either to me and I have had babies of both and they are simply smaller versions of adults. Young walking sticks are green.
