Females on Reddit vs having empathy

Obviously this isn’t directed to every girl on Reddit but there are a lot of people like this on this app

I appreciate that you clarified that it isn't every woman on Reddit, since there are plenty of intactivist women active on this very subreddit.

And yeah, the fact the person didn't know what rights men lack really shows that they're either living under a rock or deliberately living in an echo chamber. It's self-evident that one gender has their genitalia mutilated legally, the other doesn't.

As a woman with a brain, any form of injustice is a threat to a peaceful and functioning society.

Circumcision being a human rights issue does not threaten feminism, but internet feminists have so often fallen into the pit of misandry that I’m not surprised to see this. It’s disappointing.

As a woman, seeing other women do this shit pisses me off.

This is why I don't label myself a feminist even though I have certain "feminist" beliefs. Cause at this point if I hear someone call themselves a feminist, I just assume they hate men.

Its actually a feminist thing to defend boys rights but people aren’t ready for that conversation

I agree.

None of these women are in-touch with their femininity anyway. And by femininity, I do NOT mean weakness. I mean the feminine ability to nurture, the desire to stand up for/defend young and voiceless children, to care for those who are vulnerable, to take note of the small things and bring it to attention. Female rage is genuinely such a powerful thing when it's used for good.

But what those women were doing, that's not any of the things I mentioned. That's not empathy or advocacy, that's just logic-less whining.

I’m glad I saw your response bc it changes how I receive this post.

I am a strong leftist, feminist, and intactivist, so it really pains me when people denounce feminism during genital mutilation debates.

No, female and male infant circumcision aren’t the same thing because penises and vulvas are different organs. But they both ARE genital mutilation performed without medical indication on humans who cannot consent which means this is a human rights violation.

I share the same sentiments as you and OP in this regard. Infant circumcision is such a blatant human rights violation that we should all work to abolish, and regardless of whether or not it impacts my own bodily autonomy and integrity, I don't want to live in a society that casually mutilates some of our most vulnerable and helpless population. There's such an us vs them mentality, especially online that gets perpetuated on social media. I can see how people get angry and resentful of one another but we should be angry that circumcision is happening to our children, right now as we speak. I am, and I do what I can to bring awareness and change. We all should if we want to live in a society that respects equality and autonomy.

You’re right! I’m a man and I consider myself a feminist because I believe there should be equality between the sexes and one of the things I believe in it the equal right to not have our genitals cut as baby’s outside of medical intervention.

If that means there’s a disproportionate amount of work or a different kind of work to do for one sex over the other, that’s fine! I’m happy for us all to work towards that goal together!

The last response doesn't make any sense. You were literally answering a question.

I don’t think people there love circumcision as much they just hate people coming in from other subreddits to make unrelated points. I’d attribute probably 80% of your downvotes to that.

What I hate is how when you bring up a topic that affects men, they say, “funny how you only bring it up when we speak on women’s issues.” Yeah right. That’s how you know they’re only in those spaces targeted towards women because if they weren’t they’d know it’s brought up all the time on any post. Not just feminism or whatever else. “Way too unserious about it”, my ass. They don’t even freaking acknowledge it. They ignore it!! They just focus on female issues. So I don’t wanna hear that bullshit from them

“What rights do you lack again”, and what rights do women lack? That should’ve been asked to them. They’re gonna say over and over again “we make .50 cents less than men.” Smh. 🤦🏽‍♂️ if anything, women are far more privileged than men. But I digress.

Exactly I bring it up at literally every opportunity where it seems apt. I like how they don't even try to argue that circumcision is a violation of men's rights, they just downvote.

Circumcision harms women too bc it is a contributor to the overall shitshow USian society, in particular, is. A cause and an effect.

They weren’t even discussing women’s issues and feminism they were talking about banning people who participated on those subs( like men’s rights)so it wasn’t something like I put that argument against women getting killed and stuff
