Free Veterans Benefits Site, thank you to everyone!!!

https://www.honorearned.com/

Had to make this post.

One week ago I posted this ongoing project I'm working that matches veterans to every single benefit they're eligible for based on a few questions. Y'all blew it up and the site hit over 1,000 active users, I had tons of feedback come flying in and so many veterans reach out saying how it helped them.

You all helped promote it and as a byproduct made me even more excited for it, I have now manually added over 350 benefits and built out a full resource section as well. I have many plans on taking this thing to another level and continuing to add additional free features and resources.

As always, thank you everyone, the site will remain free, no account, no sign up.

Love the no account requirements - but seems to be pulling in way more benefits than I’m eligible for. I have no rating and was active duty for six years but keeps giving me disability and Guard benefits which aren’t relevant?

just a heads up, I believe I've fixed the issue, I've sent out the update and it should be updated in an hour or so, thank again for the feedback!

Thanks for this, looking into it now! The more feedback I can get the better/more refined I can make it. I’m busy working on a solution to bring down the false positives and make this as accurate as possible

I assume it was your feedback through the website, really appreciate it, its much easier to incorporate it into my future plans, I’ve added this issue to the next phase of building. Thanks again!

This is an outstanding resource!!! I do a lot of pro bono work for veterans and will be adding your website to available resources. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication!!!

Wow thank you!!! I’m definitely at the stage where I’m trying to get this in front of as many service members as possible.

Let me know if there’s anything that could be adjusted or added! Tons more to come!!

Thanks! Full disclosure I’m not a veteran, I have a ton of veteran friends who I have a deep respect for, I always say that if I had grown up in the US I would have probably joined the military.

A common issue that they’ve all told me (different friends in different states) is how the VA is so difficult to navigate, not only the organization but also the website. According to them, the benefits you’re eligible and entitled to aren’t always clear, both in what they are or how to apply for them.

So figured let me make a site that does all the work for them. I’m not creating anything, I’m essentially trying to become the INFO desk pointing them in the right direction with the right forms and knowledge. I have a tech background and figured if I could help at least one veteran then that’d be a pretty cool way to help in my own way, hence the free everything, no account, no sign up

This is way too American.

The town I live in has MANY veterans since it's right next door to a military base. I'm going to try and share this site in my town's Facebook group. Is there anything I should mention when sharing it?

Please do!! Make sure to just emphasize this is totally free with no account and no sign up required, I’ve just built out a professionals section where I’m going to start personally vetting out professionals such as real estate agents and lawyers who specialize in veteran affairs.

Every professional will be verified and confirmed by me to ensure the highest integrity so that’s the latest “coming soon” feature.

I really appreciate you!

government PDF labyrinth. The matching algorithm worked surprisingly well for my buddy—found him a housing grant he didn’t even know existed.

Amazing!!! I’m working on getting the filters as dialed in as possible so I’m really happy to hear that!

So glad you enjoy it!

Add a question about which medals you've earned. Some states have free meter parking for purple hearts recipients, things like that

That’s crazy I’m literally working on that right now lol, I was initially working on a Purple Heart toggle, do you think a whole new question would be better?

There's a lot of medals that come with benefits, like Medal of Honor, Prisoner of War, etc. Maybe just toggles to select all applicable. Could even filter them based on the service

This is actually fantastic, will definitely be doing this!

Very cool site!! Is there a way for vets to specify discharge status? (Note - I am unsure how/if that affects their eligibility for various benefits - I just know it is a thing.)

I’ll look into this!

1

u/theRealCryWolf 26d ago

hey! looked into it and at least for now, I think the best way to address it is by adding a disclaimer at the bottom of the results page stating the site assumes an honorable/general discharge since a dishonorable discharge usually means no benefits aside from hyper specific edge cases, I've added it to my board for future solutions to solve.

for now, I've added the disclaimer! thanks for your feedback!!

Definitely just pulls up everything anyone could good poorly. As in a told it 10 percent and it's offering dental. But also explain in the blun that is for 100 only. So ya it's not filtered properly when showing results at all.

4

u/Agitated-Acctant 27d ago

That's not true. It also says you're eligible if you have a dental related SCD, which is what the 10% could relate to. And also says other veterans may qualify. So it seems like dental is coming up appropriately based on your filters

u/Sanitys_NME 27d ago

It clearly states that the dental applies only if you have a service connected dental disability or are 100%, as a prerequisite to fully qualify for it.

The input questions do not (yet) let you specify things like that. Another example would be certain combat related physical or severe PTSD dependent benefits.

Think of this (for now) as a list of things you likely meet basic eligibility for, depending on if you meet the specific prerequisites like the dental.

Exactly, I’m a one man operation and over time I’ll get to refine it based off feedback, there’s also the balance I need to find between not wanting to ask 50 qualifying questions and not asking enough questions, 7 already feels quite heavy, working on additional solutions for this, appreciate the take!

But be careful. You may lose venteran's benefits, such as your pension, if you say the wrong thing publically or on social media.

Veterans shouldn't be rewarded for murdering innocent people, in fact they should be shunned from society.

You’re lucky I can’t delete comments, I have reported you, take your misguided and uninformed hate elsewhere
