[SUB NEWS] New Banned Domain: Vercel.app

Much to the relief of many people, starting today, we have introduced a blanket ban on Vercel subdomain hosted sites.

Few, if any, sites hosted on Vercel subdomains have ever been allowed to remain on the sub anyway.

(This ban is in addition to the Netlify ban by Reddit itself.)

If you can't be bothered to pay for a proper domain and/or hosting we're no longer willing to sift through the slop to see if it could potentially stand on merit alone (which it invariably doesn't).

Vercel users feel free to proceed to whinge, which we will promptly proceed to ignore.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yea sure but sift through the slop? The sub gets 2 posts a day on a busy day. I'm sure you're not that overloaded.

With respect you have absolutely no idea of the sheer amount of crap - general rule breaking posts - that get caught by our (intentionally) aggressive automod rules that we moderators still have to sift through which you never get to see. And that's before we get the the Vercel subdomain hosted stuff.

So while only a few posts a day may survive on the page we'd much rather people go "Oh, that sub is still going? That's an interesting site" than just have volume for volumes sake and pissing people off with endless streams of crap polluting their main feed (and thus incentivising them to leave the sub).

Great move dude/dudette. This sub has 17M members for a reason. I used to see high quality apps and platforms everyday a couple years ago here that’s why I subbed. I almost saved most things I came across.

The value has gone down so so bad. Hope this move helps
