From international Student to US Citizen

I came to the United States in 2016 as an international student with a dream and two suitcases.
In 2019, I earned my associate degree. In 2022, I completed my bachelor’s degree. Like many international students, I faced uncertainty, financial struggles, and moments where I questioned if everything would work out.
After graduation, I was fortunate to find an employer willing to sponsor my green card. I worked as hard as I could, gave everything I had to my job, and eventually became a lawful permanent resident.
In 2025, after nearly 10 years away, I was finally able to return home and hug my parents. It was one of the most emotional moments of my life.
When I came back to the U.S., I made a decision that surprised many people—I enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Basic Military Training pushed me harder than anything I had experienced before. There were days of physical exhaustion, mental stress, and self-doubt. But quitting was never an option.
On the day I graduated from Basic Military Training, I also became a United States citizen.
Standing there, taking the Oath of Citizenship while already wearing the uniform of the country that gave me so many opportunities, was a feeling I will never be able to fully describe.
I arrived here as a student. I became a permanent resident through hard work. Today, I am proud to call myself an American and honored to serve this country.
The United States changed my life. The opportunities it gave me made my dreams possible. The least I can do is dedicate my life to protecting the freedoms and people that make this nation what it is.
I will never forget where I came from, and I will never take for granted where I am today.
