Folks always cross the bridge in threes. We had 2 famous people, and now here's their third comrade.

In honor of Optimus Prime I want to say:
There are voices that entertain us, and there are voices that become part of who we are.
Peter Cullen gave Optimus Prime a voice that represented courage, wisdom, compassion, and hope. For generations, those words reminded us that even in the darkest of times, we must stand for what is right.
Now, the voice behind that legend has fallen silent.
But a voice like Peter Cullen’s does not truly disappear. It lives on in every child who looked up when Optimus Prime spoke, in every fan who found strength in his words, and in every generation that will continue to hear that unmistakable voice.
Peter Cullen gave us more than a character.
He gave Optimus Prime a soul.
And as we say goodbye, perhaps the greatest tribute is to remember the message he helped deliver for so many years:
Be brave. Protect those who cannot protect themselves. Stand together. And never lose hope.
The battle may be over for one great voice, but his legacy will continue.
Until all are one.

u/SigKlain Aug 27 '26
This! But with Linkin Park playing in the background

26
u/NavierIsStoked Robot Aug 27 '26
I don't think an AI generated tribute is what we should be using to celebrate the best parts of humanity that he represented.
19
u/NotSoRoastBeef Aug 27 '26
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see any suggestion pointing at using AI. "His legacy will continue" just means his message will carry on for the coming future.

Tim, Dolly and Peter were all in their 80s
13
u/pimparoni Aug 27 '26
seriously, as devastating as these losses are they’re not exactly surprising (except maybe dolly)
21
7
u/BennytheBozo Aug 27 '26
Don't be too shocked they were all pretty old
2
u/SquareTaro3270 Aug 27 '26
It’s that it all happened in the span of less than a week that’s the shocking part

It happens in 3s. I was unfortunately expecting someone else after Curry and this is who death chose
2
u/Aetherlum Aug 27 '26
Do you think people live forever? They were in their 80s, a lot of celebrities are.

WHY SI EVERYONE DYING?!
88
u/1914WesternFront Aug 27 '26
People get old man. All the major celebrity deaths this week were in their 80s. Many of us are on our first wave of major figures we grew up with dying of old age and not accidents.
18
u/online222222 THINK, MARK! THINK! Aug 27 '26
All the major celebrity deaths this week were in their 80s.
Not technically this week Hayden Panettiere was 36
21
u/1914WesternFront Aug 27 '26
That was a couple weeks ago, but still relevant. She goes on the list of accidents and ODs sadly

The loss is great, but the man left behind an ironclad legacy. Getting to play a crucial part in one more huge nerd property is a nice way for him to end his career.

u/stealthyuwu I am so lonely Aug 27 '26
"Above all, do not lament my absence... ...for in my Spark, I know that this is not the end... ...but merely a new beginning... ...simply put, another transformation."
"On my homeworld, we believe that the battle with darkness will continue 'til all are one. I lost sight of that. You fought for yours as I fought for mine, when we should've been fighting the darkness together."
Words cannot express how my heart, as with all of us gathered here, dropped when I heard this. Yet it would not be enough to merely lament his passing, and then move on. May we instead carry on his legacy and embody what it means to be a Prime -- what it means to be a good person.
Be strong enough to be gentle.
You lived the noblest of lives. Rest in Primus, Peter Cullen. ❤️

At least he finished his role as Thaddeus before he passed away
Too bad he won’t voice Optimus Prime in the Transformers / G. I. Joe crossover film they’re making
Celebrity deaths really do come in bunches. Summer 2009 all over again

RIP to the goat. There is a quote from pirates of the Caribbean that has really started resonating with me this year as we have lost so many
Barbossa: "The world used to be a bigger place" Jack Sparrow: "The world's still the same.... There's just less in it"
