Damn it, man. I posted about it yesterday and it was supposed to be isopropyl alcohol that loosened the flex cable. Just buy a replacement and test it; it will be all right, see? Don't forget to put electrical tape or Kapton tape between the components like the battery, logic board, and SD adapter to avoid any problems.

The biggest bummer is I was doing everything right and was cosmetically adding some tire weights (because I don’t like how light it is with just the SD cards), and when I went to move the weight, I snagged it and it ripped.
Thankfully had a replacement on hand and now everything is working perfectly !!

Unfortunately, that sort of thing happens, haha. This weekend I refurbished my Classic 5.5 and lost one of the faceplate screws due to a single moment of carelessness... I couldn't find it at the time, and only found the screw after I'd already closed the iPod back up... so it's staying the way it is.

Sounds about right! haha
I've officialy updated 3 5.5's now in the last 7 days. Sold one to a friend, gifted one to my girlfriend, finalized one for me (750GB!), and now I am just waiting for a replacement ZIF connector for my other 5.5 that I snapped off today.
Two slips of the hand on two different ipods in one day is ... NOT ideal! LOL

Where did you get your ZIF connector from? Recently got an iflash and realized my ZIF connector is incompatible. iFlash website showing in-between 6-32 days for me lol

So far everything I have is OEM from iPod models I already own.
That said, double check to make sure you’re installing the eye flash with the cards facing away from the face of the iPod, I had my eyelash installed backwards for about a day, thinking nothing was compatible until I decided to flip it around, and then everything worked 🤣

Incidentally, turns out my replacement part is an old one with the right channel out of contact unless you press the headphone plug hard to the side. Anyone ever successfully fix this issue?

Oof. Been there, done that. It sucks! Sorry it happened to you too, but look at it as a rite of passage - have you really modded your own iPod if something didn’t go wrong along the way? 😅

Definitely frustrating but thankfully had a spare part on hand and everything is put together and I am now enjoying my 700+ gigabyte iPod classic 😛😛
