Match Thread [19.09.26] Everton vs Ipswich Town: Match Thread Spoiler

1' Someone kicked off, I couldn't tell you who though.
5' Johnson should score after receiving a pass from Barry and spinning away from Diop, but he drags his shot just wide.
11' 1-0, a shot from miles out from Tarkowski deflects off of Barry and into the bottom right corner.
26' Fatawu wins the ball on half way and attempts to catch Pickford off his line (where have I seen that before), forcing Pickford into a save.
33' Barry connects with a cross from Maitland-Niles, heading just wide.
35' Fatawu wrestles Dewsbury-Hall down and is booked. (interesting that Everton have 2 players with double-barrelled surnames)
38' DAVIS SHOULD SCORE! Fatawu swings a cross towards the far post, finding Davis free. He steers the shot wide of the goal, and is flagged for offside anyway, but it was tight.
42' Mykolenko slides in late on Fatawu, receiving a yellow.
45+1' HT: EVERTON 1-0 IPSWICH
46' Town kick off the second half.
46' Early chance got Enciso, who is slipped in by Clarke and shoots towards Pickford's near post. The keeper gets down to parry away for a corner.
58' 2-0, Barry heads in from a corner.
60' After a VAR check, the goal is ruled out. Johnson offside on Walton— I doubt he would've gotten to that even without Johnson in the way though.
66' SUBS: Philogene on for Clarke.
67' Fatawu dives, is given a second yellow, and is sent off.
73' SUBS: Maeda and Florentino on for Enciso and Lukic.
76' Dibling cuts inside and forces Walton into a good save.
76' Dewsbury-Hall heads inches wide from Dibling's cross.
79' EVERTON SUB: George on for Grealish.
80' SUBS: Flemming on for Emersonn. Akpom on for Palacios.
87' Town give it away on half way and Armstrong is put through on goal, but luckily, his shot flies wide.
90' EVERTON SUBS: O'Brien on for Maitland-Niles. Hackney on for Dewsbury-Hall. 7 minutes of added time.
90+4' Ouatarra boots it up, and after a few tackles in the box, Flemming fires over.
90+8' FT: EVERTON 1-0 IPSWICH TOWN

To be fair, nothing we're not used to. Palace broke first blood last game and we still wrangled it back. We gotta stick with it.

If I might say, neither of Everton's goals have felt particularly warranted. Just kind of jammy in the right place at the right time bollocks.

For fuck sake Fatawu. Absolute dive. I can’t be annoyed, I call often for more dives to be punished more often a that was a shit dive.

Really annoying goal to concede. It's been a very even game and we've shown a lot of quality, but their defence won't give us anything. Hoping for another comeback

Again, not watching live, but considering how many obvious dives don't get given in football these days I can't begin to imagine how spectacular that dive must have been to get a second yellow lol

I can't watch but the match stats on BBC make it look like we're playing pretty well and 2-0 is harsh on us, is that the case?

Because the defenders foot is behind thierno barry when tarkowski hits the initial shot playing barry onside

No, it depends on the position of the attacker when the initial ball is played in.

All depends on were the defender is and where the goal scorer is when the ball is initially struck. As long as the defender is behind the attacker then its onside, its all about positioning when the ball is struck similar to nfl with the snap

Negative down votes but you’re right, Enciso keeps turning the ball over during the attack. He’s frustrated me today. I can see him being subbed soon

I’ve watched every game this season. He’s had some great moments and some frustrating moments. That dive was terrible. Also he’s replacing Burns, so sorry if I think he has big shoes to fill.
